Stranger Things - Board Customisation

Hi everyone ,

The Fan Forum Graphics Team is in the process of (re)customising message boards and now it's your turn!

If you have any picture or colour suggestions please post them in this thread. Don't post (hotlink) the pictures, links to them are fine. Make sure that the pictures are of as high quality as possible and that the top of the head of the person in the picture isn't cropped off. We also like to use photoshoot images when possible, preferably individual pictures of each cast member. When suggesting colours please keep in mind that some colours will work better than others. The Team usually tries to avoid really vibrant and dark colours because we have found in the past that they are hard to look at for long periods of time. If you would like some help coming up with colour combinations we recommend checking out the design seeds website.

Everyone is encouraged to voice their opinions for this as you are the ones who will be posting on the board and we hope to make as many people happy with the finished result as possible. It does not matter if you are a board moderator, regular poster, or casual poster here. If you have a suggestion, please share it here with us .

Your suggestions for possible pictures and colours will be taken into serious consideration, but in the interest of seeing every board receive the best customised look possible the final decision concerning how this board will be customised will be made by the members of the Graphics Team. This is because we want to make sure that the selected graphic and colours fit into the overall design scheme that we've established for Fan Forum.

For a full explanation of the message board customisation process, see this thread. If you have any questions, please feel free to send Rae or Mel a PM or ask the Team on the message board customisation thread.

Please leave this topped until a week or so after the board has been (re)customised.

Note: It usually takes less than two weeks for us to finish making the new banner and the sooner we know what you want, the more we can work on it (though it can take a few months or so to set it up with the new colours on the board), so please let us know your suggestions as soon as possible.

When the Team have made and voted on a winning graphic I will close this thread until the graphic and colours get put up. It will then be re-opened so that you can share your thoughts about it.

I'll look for hi-res pictures but first we need to decide on a color scheme. I'm thinking more along a red scheme (I'll look over at design-seeds this weekend, I have to do that for HP too) because of the show's logo. But if everyone else wants another color, that's fine with me.

We should have all the kids, OT3 (that's what I'm calling them, LOL) and Joyce/Jim. Joyce, Eleven & Jim in the center. So that's 10 characters in one banner. That's a lot.

But I don't want to drop any of the kids. And we can't take out Will & Steve, they're regulars next season.

Do all the characters you are suggesting have promotional pictures? Speaking from experience it is harder to add them in if they do not. Not impossible and we certainly can try if they are important, it is just harder. And ten characters is a lot but not too bad; we have done larger casts.

Taking a quick look around are there any promotional pictures? I did not look for long but only found a couple of posters..

While I am not going to say no I would like to point out that red is a harsh colour so we try to avoid it as much as possible. Looking at the logo it is a darker red so that is not too bad but it would still need to be used minimally.

I didn't find any individual cast promotional photos or group ones either beyond the posters. We should be able to gather some HQ episode photos featuring each character though. Especially ones that were meaningful on the show, like this one of Eleven.

yeah there really isnt any promo pix. but there are some good cast photos they just took at the sag awards we could use. unless you rather use HQ pic from the show but they are all kinda dark arnt they? most of the show took place at night.

and i agree about the red. we can use it in the banner for the logo. but i dont think we should use it for the board links though. i think we need to think of a different scheme.

What colours would you like to see? I am seeing a few teals and reds in the posters? If you like that then perhaps something like this or this? Or a colder feel with something like this?

Generally I would say no. Ideally I would presume you would want to see the characters in the graphic not the cast and presumably they were not in character there.

Sadly, I don't think we did get any promo pics for S1. I like the picture of Eleven you posted, Cece. I think we should use that.

Looks like 10 is feasible for the banner but the faces will be small. I remember a board I used to mod, Downton Abbey, had 13 on the banner. The faces were small but it still worked and I really loved that one.

And that worked since ITV released a promo pic of all the cast together.

Jen, any color scheme in mind if not red? I'm only going by the show's logo.

I did find these although I don't like Lucas in this pic and Dustin's face is hazy but we can probably work on Mike here. Or Dustin in this pic. Or this but no Will.

And then this for OT3 but I don't like Steve here. And there's a freaking shadow too.

I'll look for more pics this weekend.

No worries.

Taking as an example, Daredevil. It's not a red board per se, but when you visit, the red is the first thing that strikes me from that board. So something like that for this board, I hope.

Nope those wouldn't work because they are cut and the pictures are dark and no good quality..

I haven't found any cast promos.. but I'm not really sure where to look..

Unfortunately the only pictures i could find with great quality are the cast ones. But we need the characters so i got nothing.

yeah its hard to find good ones of them from the episodes where they are actually looking straight ahead.

im glad you like the color scheme too. im not really good at these things either, i leave the big decisions to the graphic team they know what they are doing
