so many great lines in this episode. i liked when dustin trapped dark in his cellar because it ate his cat

then bob said something about how x marks the spot on the map and asked it there was treasure burred there. reminded me of the goonies

poor hopper going in that hole by himself without any backup.

so we learned that dr. brennen delivered the baby and her aunt clearly cant be trusted. and dr. brennen is the reason her mother is in the state she is in.

glad will's map was able to lead them to where hopper is. and joyce went after him. and bob is freaking out "we are in will's map"

so the lab people show up right after joyce and bob save hopper. and when they try to kill the "monster" whatever they do to "it" seems to be affecting will now too?

OMG Hopper finding the vine thing was so disgusting! I reminds me a little but of Jumanji with that plant that would take people.

At least Bob proved to be useful in this one. I am starting to like him more. I liked those scenes a lot. When they went to save him in the tunnel/vine place that was awesome.

Mike hasn't been in the season that much. It that because of his IT filming?

Max is an idiot babbling everything to everyone in the arcade. Shut your mouth girl. I still wonder what her brothers agenda is and where these two came from?

Dustin dealing with Dark was hilarious. I enjoy his moments so much because they light things up. The Dustin/Steve interaction is everything I never knew I needed.

It was cool to get back story on Jane and her mom and what happened there. Her poor mom getting her kid ripped away from her like that. Still tired of Eleven being off by herself all season.

Nancy and Jonathan are awesome! Loved their little moments in the episode.

Thought it was hilarious that it ate the cat. Literally hate Lucas though. I've spent the whole of this series and the first one waiting for him to die. I don't know who i hate more, him or Will now he's in it.

The losing the creature in the school was reminding me of “Gremlins”.

I didn’t like the cat getting eaten! I like the weirdness of Dustin’s mom!

So here we go! Rewatch journey forges on! Firstly, Joyce is piecing together more of Will's drawings. I honestly don't know how she and Hopper did it since to me all the drawings look relatively the same. But now the whole house is covered and wow. It's both impressive and insane! Mike is sooo good at comforting Will Also Will is clearly quite comfortable with Mike because he really opens up to him about his greatest fears and what's going on with him. Mike tries to make the terrifying situation sound cool. Like Will can be a shadow monster spy! But Will worries that'll work against them. Hopper...I still don't get how the dude didn't tell anyone where he was going, dug a hole (chopped through some goo), and then jumped down into said hole. Then the second he finds out he's in the Upside Down he, for some reason, does not immediately climb back up out of the hole which leads to some unfortunate things in spray form. Dude really needs to learn about the buddy system.

Nancy and Jonathan's storyline is the weakest this season and it's not because I don't like the characters nor do I mind them together it's just way more interesting things are going on elsewhere and they are kind of off to the side. But there was some interesting stuff going on in their motel scene. Like comparing hand scares and Nancy saying she waited for him after the last intense supernatural crisis went down to which he responded "for like a month" which made her mad. Maybe before Jonathan was nervous He did have a point about being there for Will. One way or another, whether because his plate was full or he had nerves, the timing hadn't been right before.

Will's...we'll call them abilities were good for something because he dreamt Hopper was in trouble. But then again the only reason Hopper dug a hole into infested ground in the first place was due to Will's drawings so maybe it evens out in the end. I really liked getting a scene with Lucas's family. I especially liked when he asked his dad what he does when his mom is angry and if he apologizes even when she's in the wrong to which he said "she's never wrong." His face when he said it was priceless Also, can these kids put on helmets when they ride their bikes it's making me nervous!

Dustin is SO GOOD at pretending to be on the phone with someone and giving his mom hope that their cat is out there somewhere, just lost. He really is a darling with his mother...although a liar, but still darling! Really, he just needed her out of the house to lure Dart to their underground cellar thing and he did. He knocked him in there. "Sorry. You ate my cat."

Eleven is brave hitching a ride with some stranger...then again after all she has been through that's really a small thing. She finds her Mama's house, but no matter how much she knocks her aunt doesn't want to let her in. So Eleven uses her powers to let herself in. She really needs to work on controlling those things when she gets frustrated or annoyed or mad in any way. Obviously her Mama is in a confusing state when she meets her.

Bob Bob the Brain somehow figures out that Will's drawings is actually a map of the town though not before worrying about Will and Joyce because neither is looking that good, but he's not allowed to ask questions about anything going on because it's rather hard to explain. Though someone who is trying to explain things is Lucas to Max. He even had an "Out of Order' sign put on her favorite game so the worker would lead her to the room in the back. Kind of a cute trick! But naturally she believes Lucas's story is just that, a story. Who could blame her? If someone told me what he told her I definitely wouldn't think it was the truth. But it was really funny how shady she was toward the first season of the show saying she didn't think the story was original enough. So she wants proof. Again who could blame her? He tells her their party's #1 rule about friends not lying, but she doesn't start to even sort of believe him until he very nervously has to quiet her down when she talks too loudly about what he told her. And she was only getting exasperated in the first place because she thought he was playing some sort of trick on her. Then of course psycho Billy is psycho Billy and there to drive her home/wondering why Lucas was around.

Eleven hears the word "home" again. It's such a big concept for her this season and you can see her trying to grasp and understand the word each time it's brought up with her. She sees her would have been baby room which was sweet and she thought it was pretty, but the most interesting thing was the flickering lights (and we in the Stranger Things fandom know that flickering lights never mean faulty electrical wires) and that it was her way of telling Eleven, along with the tv, that she wanted to communicate. And it's really saddening to find out that her Mama is stuck in a perpetual cycle about her birth and being taken away from her. The cycle is NOT a happy one

Dustin and Erika on the walkie talkies She's so sassy, but the good news of nobody being available over the air was it forced Dustin to go to Mike's where he has a hilarious exchange with Mike's dad that ends with some swears and "you really are useless." But this all leads to the best thing that happened this season which was interaction between Dustin and Steve who showed up with flowers for Nancy, but she wasn't home and Dustin needed his bat with the nails for more pressing matters

Nancy and Jonathan team up with Mr. Reporter Man who is a paranoid sort so he seems a bit off, but he also knows more about what's going on than anyone. His wall of all things Barb ihas mistakes in it that Nancy clues him in on (like Eleven not being some sort of Russian spy, but hey it was a good guess). He hears their recording and believes what is being said, but also knows that the general public is not going to want to believe all of this and will be quick to agree with whoever discredits it. So thanks to his vodka, and watering it down, they realize they need to water down the truth for public consumption. like Barb was killed from Lab toxins!

Having Joyce and Bob hop down into the hole was fun, especially because Bob kept marveling about how they were actually inside of Will's map. They find and save Hopper, who has been having quite a day struggling through gooey stuff and trying not to choke to death. I love how he greets Bob as if this was all such a natural place to run into each other Then Lab dudes show up and help them all out and try to kill the vines with fire which, uh oh, sends Will down to the ground convulsing in a veeeery inhuman way. End ep!

Mike and Will are so cute, I wish we had more of their friendship.

Nancy and Jonathan comparing hand scars was cute, how adorable are they? The whole "I waited" and "for only a month" makes sense because she wanted to be with him but felt like maybe it wasn't going to happen, but he was trying to deal with the Will situation. So... makes sense! Their storyline was a tad boring this episode but i do like the reporter guy, he was funny.

Bob is so cute figuring out the drawings are a map of Hawkins. I like that he is in on the secret now.

Erica! So hilarious. Also Dustin was great this episode. Dustin grabbing the flowers from Steve and telling him to get in the car was so funny. Those two are just gold together.

Eleven's storylines bored me to TEARS. It was good to learn more about her but idk, I didnt care for those scenes.

Max was super obnoxious this episode. Her not believing Lucas and then exposing everything in the arcade was SO ANNOYING.

The ending bits saving Hopper were some great scenes!
