Honestly, they killed him off way too fast. I don't mind throwaway characters who do something heroic then leave, but Benny you could tell was an all-round good guy who immediately developed a fatherly affection for Eleven. He deserved more time in the show. I would've liked to have seen him interact with Hopper, who said he was friends with him.

A good thing about El being part of the Byers family is that she knows she will be with people who share those memories of Hawkins with her. In case something bad happens again, they will be there to protect her and support her. They're not strangers. They're in it together.

I really hope she and Will develop a real sibling bond because Will wasn't really a fan of her this season and that was so sad

but in his eyes she was the main reason Mike couldn't spend enough time with his other friends anymore

Having just re-watched some of Season 2, I understand Will's slight feelings of resentment towards the El/Mike relationship in Season 3.

Mike was there for Will, the whole time he was going through the possession in Season 2. He was at his bedside, supporting him. Suddenly, Eleven is back in Season 3 and Mike invests his whole time in being all cutesy with her. He acts like Will is a pest. It was sad to watch Will looking so dejected.

it's really hard

then again it happens in pretty much every friendship, the significant others will come first after a time and friends will suffer for it. it's harder on Will bc he went through so many horrible things and he doesn't wanna grow up yet

Yes, plus he expects his friends to be in the same emotional position as him, given that it was basically a shared experience. All of them lost their innocence through that.

yeah, they all experienced it but in a different way, and while the others want to leave the past behind and move on Will still wants to enjoy what's left of their childhood
