It sucks for Massa though, he never won drivers championship and I can't remember the last time he won a race? I would have loved for him to win a race one last time this year. At least JB was a world champion in 2009.

2017 calendar is already out. No more Germany, Malaysia & Singapore switch up and Baku is a week early next year.

Such a shame that we won't have a race next year in Germany.

it's weird..I mean, they just got their new world champion and he won't even have a home race next year?

Right? I thought Germany is the safest GP considering we got a lot of world champions in that country (Schumi & Seb too). They didn't replace it so we're down 1 GP next year but the season will still end November.

That's a shame about Germany.

Oh my gosh, Rosberg has retired from F1.

I was not expecting Nico's retirement. There have been mixed reactions to it. Some applauded him for leaving the sport strong and focusing on family. Others wanted him to defend his title. For me, I think he's lost his passion for the sport. To quote Romain Grosjean during Jules Bianchi's death "We know it’s dangerous but the day you are scared of what you do you stop." so I think Nico's heart isn't into the sport anymore and would rather spend his time with his family. But who knows, maybe in 2 years he will miss it and come back.

On the plus side, Mercedes is taking this in a rather amusing way which I like. Looks like everyone wants Alonso to join Lewis. Max Verstappen also had some good banter with Mercedes on twitter about possibly contacting Toto Wolff for the vacant seat.

That definitely was a huge surprise when I read about it yesterday. But I guess I can understand where he is coming from.

it's really surprising although it's not unprecedented in any sport..it happens a lot that someone who's struggled a lot to be recognized and get good results quits after reaching the top. it might actually be better than quitting when you haven't accomplished much recently, but people will always wonder how much would've been left in them to keep going. it always makes me a bit sad not to see the defending champion in the upcoming season but it sure can stir things up which we need x) I wonder who will join the team now

And also if Nico stayed, he will always be compared to Lewis and Lewis will do his very best to win the championship again next year. I know that it's sad that those two are not the same anymore considering they've known each other since they were kids. But I do respect Nico's decision and all the best to him.

And yes, I wonder who will replace him in Mercedes? It's a winning team and I'm sure all the drivers are interested.

Having someone like Lewis in your team can definitely get exhausting.
I kinda want them to go with Pascal Wehrlein, but it would be a risky move.

I've heard even Massa would come back if the Mercedes was interested in putting him in the seat chances are low for that though..

I also heard Button might re-consider leaving and join Mercedes but even I think that's not gonna happen. Vettel already stated in an interview that he's contracted with Ferrari until next year so he's not even a possibility to consider.

Pascal is a young driver, would be good to gamble on him but yes, it's risky. They have to replace Nico with someone who can keep up with Lewis, definitely a driver with more experience than Pascal. The names I'm hearing are Max, Romain, Alonso (mostly from fans) but it would also make sense if Mercedes promotes their third driver, which is Pascal.

yeah Wolff said in an interview that they would love it if Pascal had a 1 or two more experience. But then he also knows the car already so it might just end up being him, mostly because not many are available right now.

Yeah, most of the drivers have renewed their contracts with their teams already.

LOL, I wish Seb & Kimi can do this at Ferrari too.
