Welcome, and thanks for sharing your story.

I am going to change the thread title so that this thread can be used for others to share their stories of meeting sports' stars, as well. We used to have a thread like that before, but it appears to have dropped off the board.

I met Bo Jackson once. ...and had a class or two with Takeo Spikes at Auburn, but I'm not sure he is considered a sports star.

The only half-familiar athletes I've met is athlete and former 10,000 meter world record holder Ingrid Kristiansen after a race when I lived in Japan many moons ago, as well as a Manchester City team of the mid-90s when they came over here for a friendly.

LOL Rudy Johnson plays for the Bengals, right? Rudy! Rudy! Rudy!

I feel a special connection with Takeo. We only spoke to each other a couple of times and he wouldn't know me from any other girl shouting his name, but we were born on the same day. 12/17/76

Damn, you've balled with Chauncey Billups? Was he any good back then? Or did you cross him over and bust his ankles?

The only sports "stars" I've met are:

-Wendl Clark when he played for Toronto Maple Leafs. He did an autograph signing at a local car dealership.

-Mike Timlin and Pat Hentgen when they still played for the Toronto Blue Jays. I also met both of them while they were doing an autograph signing at a local car dealership. I think they hook the players up with cars or something.

-Tracy Murray when he played for the Toronto Raptors back in the mid 90s. He made an appearance at a sports card convention held at the local mall. There wasn't much of a lineup so I decided to get an autograph.

It was at my alma mater that Payton's Superbowl ring was found after all these years. It was returned to his family of course but Walter never got to see it before he passed though...

Yeah, I heard about that. How sad!

I forgot how he lost his Super Bowl ring. Do you know? I thought he had given it to his brother, but I might be mistaken.

Check out Kathie's list!

Unfortunately, I haven't actually met any sports' stars, although I have seen many play from afar.

Yeah he lost it apparently his family sold the couch where the ring was misplaced to a student at Purdue(my alma mater) his dog found it and he realized who it belonged too he found it about a year after Walter died and tracked down his family in Chicago and gave it to them in person.
