TFTNT!

How is everyone's weekend going?

I'm also going to bring over my post from the last thread, because I feel like it's important to share this news since I've talked about it so much here:

I can’t post much tonight because the weather is bad and knocking out my Internet. But I will get a few phone posts in.

I had a stressful day (this snowstorm has caused me to have to reschedule a massive dance event I have been planning for months), but we got GOOD NEWS about my mom today. Stage 1 cancer, and the tests confirmed that it hadn’t spread!

We have to get her on some medication now, and I don't know if she'll have to have chemo or not. We'll cross that bridge when and if we come to it.

Unfortunately, today, both she and my dad are super sick. Possibly flu for both of them, as they've both been running fevers.

So glad to hear that result about your mum, April. :yay: Hope that things continue to go well, that she doesn't need chemo and she recovers quickly. :)

Well, I feel like death today. :look: It was my company's annual dinner yesterday and though I didn't get drunk (SO many of my colleagues did though), I still feel like I'm hungover and generally feel crappy today. Probably the combo of many types of alcohol didn't help ... four different types of shots, white wine, whisky, bunch of cocktails etc. I'm getting too old for this sht, I think. :lmao:

April7739 01-12-2020 09:32 AM

Oh, Sarah . . . I can’t say I’ve been there (I’m not a drinker at all, really—just don’t like the taste of alcohol), but . . . hang in there. I wonder how crappy your drunk colleagues felt then.

Gonna call my mom and check in on her now.

Pretty bad, I assume. Most of them threw up though, so that probably helped. Poor hotel staff having to clean that up though. Tsk.

Oooh, Sarah, that sucks. I hope you feel better soon - hangovers are no joke. Also reason I prefer to stick to typically one type of drink at a time and not mix.

April, I'm glad to hear that the cancer hasn't spread. I hope that the doctors continue to deliver good news.

Back to work tomorrow, and I work every day this week - well, let's hope this goes well.

Are you still subbing, Amelia?

Oh god, that’s gross to think about.

kiss the wind 01-12-2020 05:50 PM

Yes, I’m really enjoying it for the most part. The main issue is just not knowing what days I’ll work and also sometimes getting called the day of. But it’s fun - I know most of the students pretty well at the site I was at last year, and I am meeting new people at the other schools and districts, too.

destroyer of worlds 01-13-2020 08:56 AM

Thanks, girls. I had a bad headache but thankfully, it went away.

Yeah, it was the shots that did most of us in, it seems. Damn. Like 5 of them were totally gone that night, but at least everyone got home safe. That's the most important thing.

How does it work when you guys sub? Your schedule changes from week to week?

April7739 01-13-2020 09:04 PM

My friend who I’m bringing to the convention subs, too, Amelia. You’ll have to swap some stories with her.

kiss the wind 01-13-2020 09:21 PM

Oh definitely!

Sarah, my schedule changes almost daily. The hours are the same mostly but the class rotations are different and usually they’re for different teachers.

This week I sub for one teacher today/tomorrow and then a different teacher Wednesday through Friday. Next week I sub for at least three different teachers at three different schools! And potentially a fourth.

destroyer of worlds 01-14-2020 09:06 AM

3 different schools? Are they close by? Otherwise, that can be hectic.

It's getting close to CNY, excited. :yay: Company dinner is this Friday, so that pretty much kickstarts the celebration period. :) Can't wait to relax, pig out and just spend time with family/friends.

ice choco 01-14-2020 10:38 PM

 Hope you all are doing well.

destroyer of worlds 01-15-2020 09:28 AM

Hey, Jac. Hope that you're well too? I'm okay, just busy/tired and looking forward to a break. :)

April7739 01-16-2020 09:38 AM

I’m so bored this week, but that’s okay. It’s been much less hectic than previous ones.
