I have my master in counseling, but I put my career on hold to raise kids. My husband, though, is a therapist, has his PhD in counseling, and teaches college classes about mental health/counseling. To say mental health is important to us is an understatement.

Steph Mental health is very important to me as well, I had to deal with my own struggles and always tried to understand other people's struggles.

We try really hard to advocate for mental health. I always wonder why people are advocating for other stuff surrounding tragedies and not mental health. Anytime something devastating happens, our conversations turn to mental health. My hope is that we can break down the stigma that some people have on it so that more people will seek out the help they need.

It's a huge part of my life. I am going to major is Pysch when I go to collage.

I go to a counselor every week to deal with stuff. I am actually going in about 15 min. :lol

Mental health is misunderstood and neglected by many people. It's great that people like Bob use their platform to shed light on the subject.

That's great, Lee! I went for over a year in college because my in-laws are abusive and I spiraled into a depression with anxiety from how they treated me. I'm doing well now though; we cut ties with them a long time ago. Only thing we could do to protect ourselves.

That's a great major to choose! It's very interesting.

Yes, I completely agree. Sometimes I feel like people are quick to point out someone else's mental instability, but fail to see their own areas they may need help with. It drives me crazy. Plus, I just wish that people would view mental health like they do physical health. If someone gets diagnosed with a physical medical condition, everyone rallies around them. If someone is diagnosed with major depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, or a personality disorder, etc. it seems many people don't believe it or don't try to understand it or don't offer the needed support.

People are scared to talk about metal problems. That is why I wanted to make this thread. So people know it is okay to have these things. They make you human.
