Showrunners in Season 6: Garret wants to leave but we can't have the rest of the season without a Dorie let's introduce his father just after his death.

Showrunners in Season 7: Alycia wants to leave but we already know what happened to both her parents so how do we keep a Clark on the show? Let's bring Madison back from the dead the episode after she leaves...

yep always the same. what a big nothing this whole season has been. now we know why they had to get Madison back. pointless without Alycia...but it still upsets me so much they won't have a scene together

I think that's why they brought back Kim Dickens. They know that they're going to lose viewers with Alycia gone, so bringing back Kim is a last-ditch attempt to retain viewers from the original seasons. But Kim can't and won't single-handedly save this series, no matter how great an actress she is. Not when the same people who have been running it into the ground are still pulling the strings.

but still this episode made me cry cause Alicia and everything she's been through i hate the fact they left her thinking her mom is dead i'm hoping they do something with her reuniting with Madison should've got Alicia getting a sign that her mother's alive...

i don't see Madison being very happy when she reunites the group knowing she was so close to seeing Alicia again...i can see her holding a grudge against the group for 'letting' Alicia stay in fallout alone after she was ill for many months.

So that's why this season has been filler then, they knew Alycia wanted to leave and so they've been stalling until they could get Kim Dickens back.

Well I guess this season has a bunch of filler episodes because they lack talent or desire to flesh out a story properly. They told Alicia's final arc as they wanted to in like 3 episodes. There's no excuse for the rest.

it's so silly, too. like, i feel like they absolutely had the structure to tell a VERY good story about Alicia. instead of not focusing on her in 7A, she should've been almost the entirety of the focus. have Alicia struggle with coming to terms with being the leader of this group of cultists. have her leadership contrast with Strand building up his tower, where she tries to bring the best out of people and connect with people on a human level, while Strand becomes obsessed with control and makes morally ambiguous decisions because of it. this whole season should've been a contrast between Strand's way and Alicia's way, not Strand just throwing people off his office building every other episode, and Alicia on speed for the entirety of her screentime.

So stupid really right

So Madison is back next week and she'll presumably find out that Alicia's alive. Is season 8 just going to be Madison searching for Alicia the whole time or what? Now that Alycia's apparently leaving, are we really going to be expected to believe that Madison wouldn't move heaven and earth to find her sick daughter? I can't even imagine how they're going to reconcile Madison's return with Alicia's departure in a way that makes sense.
