I think that Gil was probably the one that suffered the most on Quitman, not to mention that he was a foster kid, MRJ said on a podacst interview that besides Quitman, Gil was also very damaged, by the fact of being a foster kid, he has also feelings of abandonment issues and not feel loved enough.
I actually would like to know about Gil foster family or even his bio family, why was he in foster system and not adopted? did his bio family abandoned him. Also, i would like to see him meeting jessie and know how they fall in love after all these years, the show runner said we would see that, bc both jessie and jackson went away when they grew up, so how did Gil and jessie meet again? I think if he finds out about Jessie and Jackson, it is going to absolutely destroy Gil. His backstory and feeling of abandonment would just be elevated.

i agree he is going to be devastated. he clearly loves jesse and really wants to try and make it work, he has no idea that she still has feelings for jackson and was about to hook up with him in a hotel room
