Stay to the Lights 04-05-2017 07:29 AM

Ratings are coming in. It did.. not bad indeed. Comments freaked me out, but when the numbers came in, they skewed young -- not surprising, since I feel the audience are young 18-34, opposed to 18-49

Almost eight years after leaving the air, Prison Break returned to Fox on Tuesday night. The limited revival, the latest of many at the broadcast home of The X Files and 24, got off to a decent start.

At 9 p.m., Prison Break averaged a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49 and 3.8 million viewers. In the demo, it was enough to at least tie NCIS as the top-rated non-reality offering of the night. The haul is obviously a fraction of the show's night of tune-in during its original 2005-2009 run, but the show should see some significant non-linear lifts down the line. After all, streaming is probably the reason there's new episodes of Prison Break at all. Long after it ended, the show found a new younger audience on Netflix — where it was once touted as the most popular streaming library series. The debut is also a vast improvement from how the final season of Bones had been performing in the hour — and from its comedy lead-ins.

Fox, which does not report on live-plus-same day ratings, will likely hold a beat before reporting on Prison Break consumption. In addition to lifts from live-plus-three and live-plus-seven day Nielsen returns, the show will also stream on several locations.

Fox’s nine-episode Prison Break revival premiered on Tuesday to 3.8 million total viewers and a 1.5 rating, improving on its “series finale” numbers from May 2009 (3.3 mil/1.2) and tying CBS’ NCIS as the night’s best-rated scripted program.

Prison Break thus almost doubled time slot predecessor Bones‘ final season demo average.

Still sounds like remarkable ratings :D tying with NCIS for top rating of the night - that's just early ratings too

Stay to the Lights 04-06-2017 02:42 AM

The full ratings are as above it skewed very young, which not many shows tend to do.

Fox must be happy. Hopefully the audience keeps next week.

crash landing 04-06-2017 02:44 AM

The audience should considering how amazing it was :D

Stay to the Lights 04-06-2017 03:32 AM

And they say next week is even better!

crash landing 04-06-2017 11:08 AM

Can't wait :thud: especially if it's meant to be better than the premiere

eternalfate 04-06-2017 01:13 PM

The second week is always the most scariest for any show because the ratings tend to always drop.:bawl: Hopefully PB can break the trend.

I think it will be steady or better :D

‘Prison Break’ Premiere Gets Strong L+3 Lift For Fox | Deadline

Quote:

Fox said today that Tuesday’s premiere of Prison Break was its highest-rated nonsports Tuesday broadcast in Live+3 in more than 18 months. The series revival also post a 40% gain from its same-day performance (1.5/5), the second-highest lift among all midseason drama launches and a 40% jump from its Season 4 finale in 2009.

The premiered powered Fox to its highest-rated Tuesday night with entertainment programming in a year and also ranked No. 1 in adults 18-34, women 18-34, men 18-49 and men 18-34.

The DVR boost comes after a so-so start for Prison Break‘s first of nine new episodes following eight years away. In overnight numbers last week, the premiere was down 53% from what The X-Files revival drew in its regular slot premiere on January 25 last year, a Monday. Compared with its two-hour Season 4 premiere back on September 1, 2008, Tuesday’s debut of sorts was down 44% in the demo but up three-tenths from the Season 4 finale on May 15, 2009.

Added the premiere ratings into the OP :)

Stay to the Lights 04-12-2017 08:48 AM

A little down, but that was always expected with shows after the premiere. But it skews young and did very well in that demo 18-34, crushes everything else.

Could raise in the finals later today, we'll see.

Aggh I hoped the premiere ratings to be much higher :/ if with a 20m. viewers record audience Fox still isn't moving to continue the X-Files reboot then what are the odds for Prison Break to continue... hope it holds steady though
