I am 'back' though won't be until later today (it's already Monday here) or tomorrow. I am so tired. Roxanne's flight lands in about an hour back in California.

Sure was. But it's okay! We got through it. And I'm glad it was both of us together rather than one of us needing to deal with that on a solo trip.

The whole family is going out to dinner that evening. Oddly, it was his suggestion and he usually doesn't like going to restaurants.

I'm looking forward to it. We're going just a few miles up the road, to Mt. Airy, which is where Andy Griffith was born and the town was the model for Mayberry. The town has exploited that to attract tourists, so the downtown area has a lot of shops that are reminiscent of the 50s. It's kitchy, but cute.

Kitchy can be fun. I hate when historically significant places get over touristy, though. :/

I don't think Mayberry is really historically significant, but I get what you're saying. Something like if you go to New York and there are people walking around in Statue of Liberty costumes selling foam crowns. It's undignified.
