My brother is back in the hospital. He was having problems with his heart rhythm and passing out. They think it has something to do with the procedure he had last week, so they are trying him on a new medication to hopefully get things under control. But it's very worrisome.

They have him on a new drug and the doctors are saying they are very happy with how it's working. But they said the same thing about the stent they put in last week.

Ugh that's frustrating. Not to equate my pet to your actual human relative, but I know what that kind of anxiety can be like back when we were trying to figure out if anything could help Jazz's arthritis. And with the med that wound up helping, that she's been on almost two years, it was a "it won't start to really make a difference for about 14 days" thing, so the first two weeks was a waiting game of "will anything change?"

He's back home now. The new medicine does seem to be working and they've already adjusted his dose down a bit because it was working a little too well. Hopefully he'll start regaining some strength, although he's already realized it will be a while before he's able to drive again or do much of anything other than sit and watch tv.

I had a meeting today with an old friend from work that I haven't talked to in months. It was good catching up. We used to gab at work all the time. I've missed that.

I had two trees cut down recently. The guy told me he would cut the wood into firewood. He did cut the trunks and larger limbs into firewood lengths, but he didn't split them. So I have an ample supply of Yule logs. Unfortunately, my wood stove is small and I don't think I could lift those things even if they would fit.

I have a friend with a log splitter who says he can split it for me, but he wants to wait until November or December to give it time to dry out. Plus, hopefully by then it will be too cold for the snakes. They love to hide in wood piles.

That kind of firewood is FANTASTIC but it definitely is a lot of work.

Since I only light fires occasionally, if I can get the stuff split, it may be enough to last me for a few years. They were big trees.

I hate cutting down trees, but one of them was pretty much dead and the other one was being held upright by wires and was blocking access to an electrical transformer, so the power company actually cut that one down.
