When I moved to NC, part of the plan included making a trip to DC just before I actually retire to visit with all the friends I've made at work through the years and maybe get a nice retirement send-off. I just realized the other day that it probably won't be possible. I'm officially retiring in December, and I probably won't feel like it's safe to travel by that time. Plus, the company has already indicated they probably won't reopen the offices this year. I know there are people with much worse problems, but this still makes me sad.

Yeah, I totally get how that would be a sad thing. I know a lot of places that aren't opening their in person stuff until 2021.

I was talking to my boss today and they will probably ask me to go under contract for a little while after I retire. Which means I'll still have my building access and I can probably make the trip early next year.

Woke up feeling pooky this morning. Headache, coughing and a tickle in my throat and ears. Since I went both to the doctors and shopping for a new mattress on Monday, I was a little worried. But my temp was normal and I feel much better after taking sinus medication, so I'm figuring that's all it was.

I've got a very mild cough and sore throat today, but I also sunburned BAD yesterday and I know I'm probably still dehydrated from that even though I've been drinking quite a bit, so I'll go get tested if I don't feel better in the next day or so, but I think it's likely the sunburn.

Right! I will get a test if I start feeling worse but the testing site near me is $110 and I'm not paying that unless I absolutely have to. I'm taking my temperature a couple times per day and I have a pulse oximeter arriving tomorrow.

I'm glad the prices of pulse oximeters have come down. I got one for my mom about 20 years ago and it cost over $400.

It's good you were able to get one. Apparently, pulse oxymeters are one of the latest items on the shortage list. Fortunately, consumer purchases shouldn't be a problem for hospitals and such in the way that it was for masks and gloves because it's not an item that needs replacing often; hospitals and medical facilities tend to use a higher grade of them and most facilities have a sufficient supply.

Back in March the prices were super hiked, and there were shortages but yeah, now it's calmed down a lot. Roxanne's going to get the same one I have.

I've thought of getting a new one. The expensive one I got for my mom stopped working a while back. But I don't have any respiratory problems, so other than just having gotten used to checking my saturation occasionally, it's not really something I need.
