Certainly I think Rising Hawk will draw a bigger audience in the US. It has the ring of a hero to it and US movie goers love heros, while anything that smacks of "kingdom" sounds too much like history or foreign countries to a lot of the US movie audience.

I agree that Fall of a Kingdom certainly seems a bit negative - regardless of the audience. So I really wonder what prompted the difference.

I have never liked zombie anything; in fact when I would do fic exchanges I always said "no rape and no zombies" as my only two hard noes when filling out the forms. Then I read Dread Nation and it's sequel, and...honestly I'm obsessed with those books. The worldbuilding is incredible and it tackles race and mental health and asexuality and complicated, layered relationships both platonic and romantic, and I do love historical fiction. I would read 700 books and watch 700 movies about Jane and Katherine fighting zombies.

That said I still have 0 interest in literally anything else zombie.

I've occasionally watched something I would not otherwise simply because a favorite performer was in it. The performer has never changed my opinion of the genre and I've never been moved to watch the show or movie again. Very often, I've stopped watching in the middle. These days if I find myself in that position, I try to find clips that feature the favorite performer and just satisfy my curiosity that way.
