That's why I didn't recognise it!

Loved your Wall O' Text review, Tiff!

I agree with most of your points and I also thought that Sly being so concerned with himself at the expense of the deer was a bit OOC. We all know that Sly is afraid of everything and very concerned with keeping himself safe, but he also has a huge heart that typically beats out his concerns for safety, germs or any of the other things he doesn't like.

Walter channeling Cabe was just amazing! I especially loved the moment when he himself realized it. That look!

I still think Patty is a little hard to take. She needs someone to take her down a peg and make her realize that she's not all that. But it's obviously not going to be Ralphy-boy. He is smitten!

The ending, though, had me completely melted. All the sweet little moments were just so adorable.

Sorry, that did end up as rather a long post, but I really enjoyed the episode!

I actually didn't find it OOC with Sly, but my reasons for that are very interpretation-heavy. These people are pretty afraid right now - afraid of losing Cabe, afraid of losing their company. And they've also never really lost on a case before - they've ticked people off, they've had close calls, but they've never failed. (I guess you could count that one pilot dying in 3.01 a failure, but they hadn't really had any time to work on their plan yet.) In this case, on top of everything else going on, they're on a very dangerous case with a real chance that they might fail. And given as Heidi said, the big heart that Sylvester had, I could see him completely latching on to Paige's motherly instincts (subconsciously) and finding himself extremely invested in saving Jane, because at that moment, that was potentially one thing that he could control.

I completely agree with this, by the end of the episode he was fully invested in saving the deer. It was only the first scene when he seems more concerned with saving himself that felt wrong. I could understand if he had voiced his overwhelming concern for the safety of the whole team, but not just for himself. He definitely redeemed himself by the end of the episode though. (Even if he did shock a 'flatline'! Why don't TV writers ever learn? )

Oh, I had misread. I thought you were saying Sly being so worried about the deer was OOC. I don't really see the start as OOC either though, just because they are still newly off that island, and I'm sure they haven't fully adjusted to the fact that their lives aren't in danger 24/7 yet, and in that moment it probably felt like his new lease on life was about to expire.

That's a good point, Nicole. They've all been through an experience that is likely to have long-lasting effects. Sly, given that he was already affected by anxiety and phobias, is very likely to have those issues aggravated and to be more susceptible to an triggers.

I'm glad you at least see where I'm coming from - sometimes I think my brain's need to make everything make sense no matter what means that I'm going to be spewing logic that only works in my head.

That's very true, actually, and Sly did choose to isolate himself from the rest of the team when they were on the island so perhaps going into self preservation mode is just his way of coping with dangerous/extreme situations? Now I want to give him a hug!

I like that they mentioned Happy's squeamishness - but also that she was able to push past it again. Watching Toby and Happy working together as a medical team is always a plus.

Those are some of my favorite case related personal storylines.

I wish they would do something similar to that with Ralph and Walter or Ralph and Paige. I know Ralph pitches in a lot on cases - but it's usually just him hacking into a computer or something. I'd really love to see him really working together with one of his parents on something.

If they stay in the States because of Cabe, maybe Paige might consider having Ralph come along sometimes - especially if she wants to keep him out of Patty's clutches.
