TFTNT, Ina :flowers:
We need to update the OT, those are old news  |
^I was just thinking the same thing, Ana!
I'm terrible at keeping Ashley's News OP updated. So, I totally understand. |
We must totally do that

TFTNT. Sorry girls, I know I have not posted interviews and event pics in awhile. I got caught up in an endless discussion that has turned into a déjà vu.
Here's a photo of Jessica today in Milan, Italy (12/19/16): kevinpouzou - Hanging out with our new best friend - @jessicachastain #Beautiful #natural #gorgeous #friendly #todiefor And my #besty @tgurfein @The Shadow Strikes I already addressed why I wrote the misandrist part after you, for some reason, brought misandry into this. So, I don't see the point in Of course I know what feminism is, and I think we're both aware that the equality of the sexes part refers to the fact that women have been seen as the lesser sex for centuries. That it is about bringing women's rights on par with those of men. So why are we wasting time going round in circles here? I stated that feminism has been vilified, that's all I wrote. I didn't point fingers and blame men for that. But there's a group that, according to you, is to blame for that: "feminists always complain about the conotation around the word "Feminism" and blame men. . We are not to blame. You want to know who is to blame, look no further than other feminists, the angry, irrational, man hating kind of feminist". It's all in our previous comments, I don't need to make things up. My "Ten movies, that's a considerable number, and they are more than enough to put two and two together." comment was in relation to this post of yours: "Seeing Jessica display her feminism and political views in different articles, lately, I am a little concerned about how this will affect the character." Did any of those ten characters display Jessica Chastain's feminism and political views? I would also like to know where I can find the "different articles" you were talking about. What does "general news" mean? I want to know. When I wrote "white" before men or male, my point was that they have been more comfortable when it comes to their rights, because, well, racism. That's it. |
Ok, at the risk of being accused of mansplaining, I will try and break it down further.

"You're blaming women, and yet you, a man, have been repeatedly downplaying what feminism is and stands for. But sure, let's put all the blame on us women. Nice." You can sit behind a screen and accuse me of downplaying what feminism is, but it is much harder for you to prove that. But I will save you the trouble of looking, and I will just say that there is a big difference between downplaying it, and knowing what it actually means (note that I am not saying that you don't know what it mean, just that I do). I brought that up, because you accused me of calling her a misandrist, which I didn't, asked you to show where I did, to which you said: "You are absolutely right, my bad. You never called her that,[snip]" Right, moving on... Quote:

"Yes, and as I already said (post 294), I am hearing more and more of her political views. What you don't quite understand, is that while I have seen a selection of her work (I see that you bring that up below, so i'll come to that in a minute), I am not what you might call a "fan" of hers, by that, I mean that I don't google her name every hour, or go digging through her rubbish bins. I hear only what I come across in the news, and what I am hearing more and more is her political views." That should answer your question. Quote:

"I don't believe in that. Racism is racism, anyone can be racist towards anyone else, regardless of skin colour." Hope you've enjoyed this, good night. |
I've updated the OP, didn't add much to it since news are always changing so there's no point filling it up with stuff that will be old by the time we reach our 10th page. Also, you might notice I chose not to include a full body picture of Jess @ the Miss Sloane premiere because well, that dress was hideous. So I focused on her permanently flawless face. :)

^ Well, it was a Givenchy.

And seriously, why did you trow misandry into the discussion in the first place? We were talking about her social and political views, so I wrongly assumed you were implying she was a misandrist. Jessica Chastain is not a misandrist. I am not a misandrist. So, I think this is not the right place for your attacks on man-hating women. Quote:

Just as I thought. After the announcement of the Painkiller Jane movie (two days after the US presidential election) you started clicking on articles about Jessica Chastain that were under the entertainment category, they always are. Then, you read the things she said during press for Miss Sloane, which happens to be about a female lobbyist. So, she talked about the presidential election and women in politics in all those interviews. What got you interested in what Chastain had to say after all this time? She became attached to the movie adaptation of a comic book/graphic novel you have obviously read and enjoyed. Her political and social views have been there since before the start of the year 2016. You've seen her acting work in 10 different movies, and she doesn't play herself in them. But you're still concerned about her display of feminism and political views in articles. "Seeing Jessica display her feminism and political views in different articles, lately, I am a little concerned about how this will affect the character." Quote:
This is going to be my last reply to you, since I'm not interested in discussions that seem to go nowhere after a certain amount of posts. Take care, The Shadow Strikes. |
An old but good interview:
Cover Story | Jessica Chastain on fear, freckles and fitting in | Magazine | NET-A-PORTER.COM I always thought she was half joking when a few years ago she talked about being retired by 2018. |
I understand if she wants to take a break but my God, has she spoiled us with so many movies and pictures and interviews  It would break my heart if she retired from acting, she's a phenomenal performer and it's such a rewarding experience for me to watch her. That's a great interview, I love how vocal she is about feminism and how she politely brings the interviewer's attention to the sexist question. Queen. :in_love:
|
We've been blessed with her amazing gift all these years. But she's not really retiring from acting, just slowing down, which means she'll probably do 2 movies a year instead of 4, jk. :D
Ugh, I know. And to think some people get offended when she speaks against sexism. |

Jessica's always been very vocal about social issues and politics, and has spoken against misogyny, sexism, gun violence, racism and discrimination in general. I added misandry, as it a social issue that should be fought against, especially by people who claim to fight for equality.
Jessica Chastain is not a misandrist. I am not a misandrist. So, I think this is not the right place for your attacks on man-hating women.[/quoute] I never said she was. I never said you were. And that is a nice attempt to paint me as the one in the wrong. But I haven't attacked anyone, all I have done, is point out the hypocrisy. Quote:
It was not an order. Of course I know what that is, my first e-mail was hotmail. Yahoo works like that too. I guess you might be referring to msn? I used to go there all the time like a decade ago, "wonderwall" or something like that was where all the entertainment news were. I also know that they have those news headlines and articles organized in categories (entertainment, sports,...), and that you have to actually click on them to read the articles.
MSN, hotmail, it doesn't really matter. But I use hotmail, and when logged out, users are taken to a page with different articles. And while you are right that they are sorted into areas, the title (or part of it) is still visable. So I don't have to click on it. Also, if I use Google to search for news on the Painkiller Jane film, given Jessica's involvement (and due to how articles are written) articles on Jessica with a political leaning will still show up. Again, I don't have to click on them. Quote:
