I tried to post a review earlier today, and of course after I was almost done I lost the whole thing.

Anyway.

This episode is remarkable for several accomplishments:
1) it made me really feel Malcolm's pain after all this time. His teary "Mina..?" during the first dream/vision/hallucination was heartbreaking, so was seeing him hug Peter's corpse.
2) it made Brona/Lily interesting. I won't say it turned me into a stan of hers in 50 minutes, but we finally got to see the character have her own agenda and become a true opponent capable to challenge the other people in her life. She stopped being a prop to their storylines, and instead turned the table on them about that. She is now playing all the men in her life - John, Victor and even Dorian - telling them exactly what they want to hear while she sets her own plans in motion through them.
Billie Piper was brilliant in the monologue scene, and kudos on throwing Mr. Nice Guy Caliban against a wall.
3) it gave some spark to Hecate, finally. Although I still find the character weak in her proclaims and scenes compared to the other secondary figures, we'll see what she is going to do in the new episode. She is still obsessed with Ethan... not that I can't understand that, I'd be obsessed with him, too, after meeting him, lol.
4) Plot twist: Satan has a twin, and that twin is Dracula? Will we see him in the finale? I'm intrigued. So the list of the competitors for Vanessa's heart grow, lol.

Things that pissed me off:
1) So Malcolm took about every possible precaution he could to face the minions/vampires last season, but what did he do this time, instead, after realizing the witches had completely played him? He went into the lions' den alone, carrying only a pistol. HOW STUPID?! Come on, I know Evelyn said that his wounded pride would have made him angry and reckless, but you made things way too convenient in order to move the plot forward, show. Same goes for the way Malcolm began to question his own actions without any prompt, way before Sembene made him snap out of the enchantment - it didn't really mesh with how deeply compromised he had been until that point.
2) NOOOOOOOOO ANGELIQUE! Why. Sigh. That whole scene was weird and upsetting. First because why would Angelique immediately assume that the painting was more than... well, a painting? Dorian could have very well had it made to symbolize all the sins he feels on his soul, but besides having it hidden, what else gave his supernatural nature away to her? Hmm.
Also, Dorian didn't even flinch seeing her dead on the floor. I don't know if it was Reeve who played the scene too flatly, but I expected a little emotion on Dorian's face before the smirk came back.

Other random thoughts:
- If there is ever going to be a zombie apocalypse, I want Sembene in my team;
- Please don't die in the season finale, Lyle, I kind of heart you;
- Lily's "I could have been murdered in my sleep" to Victor made me chuckle. A+++ girl.

I watched it very late, too. Damn you, real life.

No Vanessa (and Ethan), but still a strong episode. It was good to see the show finally give something to Brona and Dorian. Speaking of the dynamic between those two, not sure whether Lily wants to use his help, or make his life hell. I'm fine with either option, actually.

It was about time they did something with Dorian, besides flirting with everyone under the sun and chase the latest novelty.

to be honest, I didn't even get it at first what Angelique had discovered and I didn't expect Dorian to so heartlessly take her out all the past weeks indicated he at least felt something..

Lily's speech was so powerful I'm still in awe. it was really long but I loved it all. she showed Caliban where his place is alright everyone was just so possessive of her.. but taking down the living is not a really nice idea

poor Malcolm I loved that he was never gonna give up Vanessa, of course. it's been so wonderful to see their relationship develop. how he's kind of adopted her but now he has to suffer so horribly

I sorta have a love-hate relationship with Hecate now I love it when she fails, when her mother pushed her through the floor, for example but I also like how she can annoy Mrs. Poole and is not entirely on her side but she only wants to take over her place if she was on the good side, I'd definitely love her
