Is ‘Central Intelligence’ Aaron Paul’s Best Film Role To Date? | Decider | Where To Stream Movies & Shows on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Instant, HBO Go

Quote:

Aaron Paul’s post-Breaking Bad film career has been interesting, in that, sometimes, it really hasn’t been. This dude is a tremendous actor, there is no doubting that. The work he did on Breaking Bad was next-level, and the Hulu drama The Path blesses us with another fantastic performance from him. Plus, with his role in Netflix’s BoJack Horseman, this dude OWNS TV shows.

When it comes to his film projects, there’s less of a consistency for him. After moving on from Jesse Pinkman, Paul starred in Need for Speed, as well as Hellion, A Long Way Down, Eye in the Sky, Fathers & Daughters, and Triple 9. It’s understandable after being on Breaking Bad for 5 seasons that he’d want to play around, try different characters, different ensembles, and different genres. And he did! None were quite the critical or even commercial successes as the AMC drama was, but it’s probably not fair to even compare the projects to begin with. In fact, one of the brightest spots in Paul’s film career came with 2012’s Smashed, an indie drama opposite Mary Elizabeth Winstead, which earned more than decent reviews, and provided us with as strong of a performance as we’ve ever expected from him.

Oh no, i guess he has not really had great luck with movies :(

Julie 03-27-2017 05:03 PM

I haven't seen Central Intelligence yet. I thought he was barely in it? Which doesn't mean it couldn't be his best movie role, but you know :abduct:

desmondluverbrotha 03-28-2017 03:20 PM

Well it has been on the pay channels so maybe I will check it out :bunny:

Julie 03-28-2017 06:47 PM

Me too :yay:

desmondluverbrotha 03-30-2017 03:54 AM

I think it is ondemand on one of the pay channels so it might be easy to watch anytime :slinkie:

Julie 03-31-2017 09:40 AM

That's always nice :bunny:

desmondluverbrotha 04-01-2017 02:41 PM

Oh I caught it on HBO earlier today. I really think if this was Aaron's best movie, then he needs to find better ones to be in  I actually liked what he did in Triple 9 better. He was not in the movie too much but it was not bad, just not as amazing as Aaron's parts should be :(

Julie 04-05-2017 06:50 PM

Yeah, Triple 9 was good. He maybe gets a little typecast  but he works it

Aliyah is still salty about Norman getting killed off about 15 minutes into that movie :rotfl:

desmondluverbrotha 04-06-2017 01:20 PM

Oh no, it was for the story to work. It was still great seeing those two work together  and as bros :yay:

Come and Find Me is Aaron's best film role to date. Eye in the Sky is the best film story he's had to date.

Central Intelligence is just the closest he has come to big money success (216 million worldwide) even though Need for Speed isn't even far off (203 million worldwide).

The money game has nothing to do with finding great acting, it's just shallow talk. So it's meaningless to me.

I just wonder if Aaron's people, his side of it all, see it that way too.

desmondluverbrotha 04-07-2017 05:10 PM

I saw Come and Find Me- it wasn't bad but could have been better. Aaron was great  but the story was not as great.
I really want to see Eye in the Sky, I hope it will be on a pay channel soon.
I totally agree, movies that make money are not necessarily because of great acting. I hope to see Aaron in more challenging roles that are less typecast. I think he can do so much more with the immense talent he has

Julie 04-09-2017 04:35 PM

I finally saw Central Intelligence. He did great of course but I doubt that's his ~best role. Yeah if they're just saying that because it made the most money, that doesn't really mean much. I need to catch up on more of his movies!

desmondluverbrotha 04-09-2017 04:44 PM

I was watching Fathers and Daughters, I liked him in that as well, better than some of his other roles he was typecast in :yay:

Julie 04-09-2017 11:51 PM

I want to watch that soon!

desmondluverbrotha 04-10-2017 02:02 PM

He's is not the main characters but dates the main girl in the movie, it is a little typecast cause that what he was in Come and Find Me. They did film it in Pittsburgh though :slinkie:

Julie 04-10-2017 10:06 PM

can't believe I missed that in Pittsburgh ;)

desmondluverbrotha 04-11-2017 01:57 PM

I think it was done filming about the time you started to do extra work :(

He revealed his love of cars when he starred in 2014's Need for Speed.
And now continuing his petrol head love affair, Aaron Paul was spotted out in Los Angeles on Monday cruising around the City Of Angels in his unmissable 1965 Shelby Cobra.
The 37-year-old actor soaked up the good weather as he drove around LA in his distinctive blue open top vehicle with broad white stripes on the hood - which is highly sought-after by car collectors.
