Yes there is! 5 minute walk and your in the stratford city centre. It leads you to the shakespeare main statue and from there there's signs posted to where all 5 houses are. 3 are in 5 minute walking distance, but the other two are a half hour walk out. That's Ann Hathaway's Cottage and Mary Arden's Farm. BUT these two are by far the best two! But the three that are in a 5 minute walking distance, Shakespeare's grave is next door to one of them so it's very useful. Later this year they're opening Shakespeare's New Birthplace, which is an acre of land remodelled from his writing. You can walk in his footsteps. Archeologists have worked it out from letter and such and when he's spoke about his surroundings, but it will be the biggest of the 5 houses by far and... well I guess, it will be the 6th. |
I need to save this post for future reference. I would love to book a trip to England that isn't focused on London but rather the surrounding countryside. I'd love to go to the Lake District and Dover and historical sites outside London.
