So I've decided to re-read this series in the upcoming weeks :D I read them in the right order, then I read them with Kill Order first, but now I'm starting with Maze Runner again.

Thought I'd bump this topic for my thoughts :D

fly me to the moon 09-15-2015 06:51 PM

^ I don't think I can do that but it helped when you did that?

sourburst 09-20-2015 09:23 AM

Helped what?

The first time I read them Maze Runner, Scorch, Death Cure then Kill Order.
The second time I read it Kill Order, Maze Runner, Scorch then Death Cure.

It wasn't much different, but I feel like for someone who hasn't read the book reading Kill Order first for the first time readin would spoil the other 3 books for you.

___________

So I'm on my re-read and honestly, the amount of development Chuck gets is heart breaking. Like why doesn't he get that much in the film? His death would have been so much sadder! I can't believe they deleted his introduction scene too. :(

fly me to the moon 09-20-2015 10:42 AM

I mean, read Kill Order then Maze runner..

JoJoF92 09-20-2015 10:50 AM

yeah, I thought Chuck and Thomas could've bonded more..same with Teresa :/ but his death was still very tragic, mostly because of Dylan's acting in that scene.

I should read the first book again, too, to ease my mind a bit.. those were simpler times :sigh:
yeah, I think TKO could spoil the rest of the books a bit. although even reading it after the other was different because I didn't care much for these new characters. I wanted to know more about the old ones. at least it gives you some more of Teresa

fly me to the moon 09-20-2015 10:51 AM

^ Yeah, that's why I assume that since TKO def gave it away bec in Maze Runner, we have no idea why they are there and stuff like that..

sourburst 09-22-2015 07:41 AM

I think I'm the minority in thinking the film chuck death wasn't sad. It just really didn't have any emotion or feels for me.

I still don't understand what you mean about asking if it helped, but I'm sure you've been helped by now

That was cool since I didn't know that..

DP, sorry!

Bumping up this thread! It's been two years since I read it and I definitely want to do a re-read, but I think I'll wait a little bit longer before I do. Maybe after TDC comes out, I'll do a full re-read of the whole series.

But I remember really loving this book! I prefer it to the movie, even though I do love the movie a lot!

dracarys 10-20-2016 03:38 PM

The book was definitely better than the film was but I did like the film  it sucked that a lot of scenes were cut such as the grievers constantly coming back to the maze to kill one glader

royalღcaliber 10-20-2016 06:15 PM

ITA!! But I guess I get it, there wouldn't be enough time in the movie to have it just be one kid a night so instead they just let all hell break loose
