lol Yeah, everyone always plans a franchise from the beginning and RE has a lot of games to adapt. Usually how much the movie makes determines if they can continue with their franchise plans.

Yeah, I just wonder how they might go about it.

Seeing as a) Claire's the main protagonist, b) there's a reference to the Ashford twins in the trailer, c) they might want to get Claire, Leon, Chris, Jill and Wesker all together in the same story again, and d) a RE3 adaptation might be too similar this movie, I think a sequel based on Code Veronica makes the most sense.

Code Veronica already features Claire, Chris and Wesker, and mentions Leon, who (instead of just telling Chris where Claire went) could go with Chris to Rockport to find Claire. Jill could replace Steve, and Steve's death and experimentation by Wesker could be swapped with Jill's apparent death and experimentation/brainwashing by Wesker.

Then the third movie could be an adaptation of RE5, with the whole gang teaming up to take down Wesker once and for all.

as long as they don't go in the original direction of the Milla movies, we'll be fine.

So, I watched the new Resident Evil movie. 5 Stars (no pun intended)

and I thought it was crap. so you get both options.

Just cutting and pasting as much as you can from the games doesn't make it a good movie.

The Jill sandwich line made my eyes roll so far back in my head that I missed the next 5 minutes of the movie.

Weird that she referred to herself in the third person like that but at least it wasn't as bad as the original line in the game. lol

It was a mistake trying to condense the first two games into a single 2-hour movie, they had to cut and simplify so much.

Jill was reduced to a side character with a crush on Wesker, Wesker was just a clueless normal dude being bribed by Ada, Ada was literally a cameo, Leon was a bumbling narcoleptic buffoon, Annette was nothing more than a scared housewife, and Sherry's presence was pointlessly tacked on.

The Wesker played by Shawn Roberts in the previous Paul W.S. Anderson movies - bleach blond dye job, phony British accent and all - was way better than the Wesker in this one. Such a waste of Tom Hopper, who'd actually make a good Wesker if they'd let him use his real accent and kept any of Wesker's personality, backstory, or motivation.

Also a couple places of weird editing/directing that particularly bugged me.

That sounds like a mess SMH. I don't get why they tried to combine RE1 and 2 into one movie, so no wonder it sounds all over the place. They could of easily did one movie for each game, and it gives them more time and material. I guess this might be another video game movie going down the toilet.
