Laurel handled it amazing well

I've came to appreciate these two a lot more over the course of modding both boards and re-watching

so want to see these two become friends again and go from there

The show wasn't going this direction so same for me; until this thread and seeing some Ollie and Laurel fanvids.

Felt good about the finale though, with Laurel part of the new Team Arrow. Them all accepting her part of the team.

Honestly, it's not organic based on their dynamic at the end of s2 and early s3. I think they are distant cause they wanted to appease certain fans by having oliver be mean to her. I don't know about you, but I'd be cold to someone who treated me the way oliver treated laurel. I never understood the laurel hate since it was oliver who was mostly in the wrong when it came to their relationship. I think it took having OF play out and seeing that its not all its cracked up to be to maek people look at OL differently. It's not the pairing, its the writers (inability to write romance).

Exactly; Oliver was the one in the wrong from the beginning. And made it seem Laurel was always in the wrong. Well, Oliver didn't give a reason for her to forgive him. Wonder why people don't like Laurel though. She deserves better!

well fan favorites usuall have a gross undertone of abuse and or other-girl syndrome. Like, I'm so special different than most girls.

I've never particularly liked fan favorites because I tend to think in terms of the grand narrative. I don't mind Laurel and Oliver mostly cause Oliver came back and acknowledged that he hurt her and tried to rebuild their bond. He was a jerk to everyone in the past. It doesn't stop me from liking them so long as he treats her with respect.

That's true! Oliver was quite the jerk in the past, but grown to be better and tries hard to be more of a man than the boy he was.

I think it's gotten a lot better; feel they have a hard time communicating with each other. He's not really a "talk it out" kind of guy. Glad he still cares about her; not wanting her to be BC going out in the dark and saving the city/fighting crime. So he shows it, just hasn't yet talked it out with her.

He does care but doesn't know how to express it

guess his not wanting to train her and giving her a hard time was his way of caring

even if he did it the wrong away, so hopefully he can learn to communicate and how to treat Laurel right

I can understand him not wanting her to get hurt, but his way of showing love is a bit harsh. Proud of Laurel for continuing to even talk to him.

Tough love is how it seems that Oliver has grown to understand

can understand considering the 5 years he had while "dead" but really really hope he's done with this tough love now

I think he's learning to trust others, especially after hearing that bit about the team. He'd had a rough 5 years, but needs to learn to let go and put it in the past.
