I enjoyed tonight's episode! I have strangely found myself having more sympathy for Geillis on the show than I did when I was reading the books. Or maybe I did feel some sympathy for her at this point...it was awhile ago since I read this part and so much has happened in the "Outlander" universe since I read the first book back in the fall. She is a very dynamic character though...so unique. If my recollection is correct things unfolding a bit differently then I remembered.

-I remember it seeming like a much closer call with being burned at the stake for Claire.
-And I don't really recall Geillis and Claire having a talk after Ned told them he could only save one of them, and it would be Claire. I don't recall Geillis saying "Why are you here?!" and clearly meaning why are you here in this time...not just why are you in Scotland.
-Someone may need to refresh my memory or maybe I could find it in the book. I do not recall Geillis helping to "save" Claire by saying that Claire wasn't a witch, but she was and showing the "mark of the devil" I though Claire saw the mark, but not that Geillis actually drew attention to it.
-Then there is the 1968 little bit. That isn't supposed to happen until later...and it was supposed to be Dougal that delivered that message to Claire saying "1.9.6.8" I'm correct about that right??

I do like the changes that were made. All of the people on this show are so great!

I just loved Ned! He's really a good lawyer but clearly, the people had already condemned them. He tried his best!

And Jamie...he believed her! He believed Claire when she said the craziest of all crazies - That she was from the future! He didn't seem to "alarmed" by it..."mildly" surprised is how I'd characterize his expression in that exact moment.
And then he took her to the stones!!! Because he loved her so, and he didn't want to keep her from her own time! :bawl: He walked away...went back to camp, and probably cried himself to sleep. Bless him! When she woke him I saw tears on his cheek!! She chose him!!!

Same  (also, hi Robin  I think it's about time I started posting in here )

I actually like Geillis on the show, I was rooting for her the whole time. I loved the changes that were made, it gave a new dimension to the character, and I dont mind it when they veer away from the books because usually they do something even better than the source material.

Also, "Looks like I'm going to a f**ng BBQ"? :rotfl: best

The whole witch trial scenes where so intense, and that final shot with Geillis and her pregnant belly  Lotte killed it.

And Jaime and Claire. :thud: Both of their faces put me in a early grave this episode I cant

The last 20 minutes of the episode have to be my favorite of all time in this show.

Jamie by the fireside, outlining her face and her lips and then waking her up just to see her and revel in her pleasure and taking it all in because she might not know it yet but he's getting ready to say goodbye to her for good. Slay. :bawl:

And then the way he stopped her right before she touched the stones, his face was too much. :thud: That last scene. Jaime was crying. That's all.

This was probably hands down my favorite episode, it was even better than the wedding for me.

It's been a while since I read the book but I think you're right that they made all these changes. I think it worked pretty well and the episode was really powerful. One of my favorites!

It was good episode, not so great.. But I cant' believe that she willing to do that for Claire.. Ugh, I wish that Claire wouldn't be that selfish to let her die w/ her child like that..

T'Lynn 04-19-2015 11:49 AM

I think it was more of a situation where there was nothing she could do to save her.

Thanks for the thread!

Still haven't watched and won't be able to until Monday. :irked:

Family responsibilities getting in the way of my fangirling. Why doesn't anyone want to go out today?

Mikaela! Glad you finally posted on here!

T'Lynn - Thanks for making the thread & thanks for backing me up on those changes that I thought were made.

She did kill it!

I guess it leads the viewer to believe that the people were dragging her to be burned at the stake right away...but perhaps we will see later if other changes were made. I can't imagine that they could be really...

I think this show is like perfect. Every week it gets stronger and I love it more. Claire is such an incredible character and the way her relationship with Jamie is developing...so beautiful. Their chemistry is amazing. And what he did for her in this episode - that's love. The ending of this episode was perfect.

I am watching it later today. So exciting :bunny:

I cried. From the moment Claire was recounting her story to Jamie until this final scene. Even though I knew it was coming, I wept. The quote by Jamie from the book was all I could think about during this. Sam and Cait were perfect....sheer perfection.
