You can already tell Joe loves Barry like his own, even though he gets incredibly frustrated with him.

Joe fills dual archetypal roles, being the sector's equivalent to both Diggle and Quentin, and it'll be interesting to see what happens with their relationship going forward.

There's a difference though - Quentin didn't know The Arrow, didn't trust the Arrow, and Diggle was like Oliver's conscience, keeping him from going too far and killing people.

In Barry's case, Joe knows him, knows he can trust Barry to keep people safe. His concern is Barry going too far and killing himself while trying to do that.

Elektra: I don't think you get what I'm saying when I talk about archetypes. Their individual circumstances are different, but, archetypally, Quentin and Joe fill the same role (civilian law enforcer). Joe also fills the archetype represented by Diggle (male confidante and ally).
