We open with Marlo alone in the exam room in a hospital gown. She is waiting to speak with the radiologist, the tech tells her the Radiologist will be there soon- Marlo says that she got a call to come back in - is there a problem? No reply. Sam walks in just as the ultrasound is being done. "Sorry I'm late.. I'm the Daddy....uh..the um Father." (Ahh Awkward Sam - Adorable. ) They watch the images and see the little face- bonding over it a bit. The tech is silent and has a strange look on her face, and Marlo asks if anything is wrong. Tech says she can't discuss, she's just getting the images ready for the radiologist and leaves. Sam is disturbed..and there is awkward pause. Marlo tells Sam he can go, she'll tell him what the she says. Sam says he's not going anywhere unless she wants him to. She tells him it's fine, it's his baby too.
Chloe Price floating into the station with a big grin on her face, greeting people as she goes. She says "Good Morrow" to Duncan and he tells her she looks nice.. they do some weird sunshine innuendo type flirting - he tells her she looks like sunshine, she says today is the day for a fresh start and she feels like sunshine ..and to wear sun screen cuz the sun burns the skin - he says only bare skin, she tells him her sun is so bright it penetrates the clothing and he says her sun doesn't have to work so hard, he'll take them off - she tells him not to make it too easy, she likes to work hard...ok this has definitely gone on long enough.. time to get real.. she walks away and he's all googly over Chloe's flirts.
He finds Dov and sets out on an information gathering mission..he starts doing the getting-to-know-you-better thing...asking questions -but he's really after one thing.. he asks what's Dov's middle name ? Ezekiel. What about Diaz' middle name, he doesn't have one.. how does he take his coffee? Black . Is it true that Peck has retractable fangs - Yes. As Dov walks away Duncan follows him and starts sharing stuff about himself.. he's a certified golden dancer, - Check it! ( he does a body roll) his middle name is Joaquin, and sometimes he likes to pee sitting down..Dov is grossed out..tells him Whoa! Back off! I wanna unknow that! and walks away. Duncan yells after him he has more questions.. he was totally building up to ask about Chloe..
Morning Parade. Juliette says good morning to Nick, Andy walks in and smiles at Nick but he doesn't appear to see her- Oliver walks in with a patch over one eye.. everyone snickers- Ollie tells them what, nobody's ever seen a pirate in a cop costume before? He tells them he got a cat's hair in his eye and it got infected.. moral of the story, Cat Scratch Fever is not just a song. Don't pick up stray cats, even if they wander into your yard, and are cute as all get out. Ok Down to business. Pine Valley Correctional Centre for Women, understaffed, need 2 inmates transferred so they are sending a group over . Oliver pairs up McNally and Ward to get one inmate - (nothing like a long ride in a hot squad car to get to know each other) and Peck and Collins to take the other inmate. Tells everyone else check the board for their assignments, play safe and color inside the lines .."and remember I got my eye on you."

Back at the clinic, Marlo tells Sam he doesn't have to do this, she is fine to do it herself. He tells her he knows he wants to be there. He offers to share his granola bar with her and she accepts.
Andy in the car with Juliette, decides to blow right past the small talk. starts out by telling Ward "my boyfriend's gonna be a father and I'm not the mother, the mother works in intelligence, and she's bipolar and everybody knows and, it's awkward." Juliette doesn't quite know what to say but Andy explains she just figured she'll just say it since it's kind out there and they're gonna be together all day and just figured she'd go straight to oversharing.
Juliette jumps right in blurting out that she's crazy about Nick - Andy is like whaaaaaaaaaaat? Ward apologizes and asks if its weird, cuz he's her ex. Andy says she saw them talking in parade and wondered about it. Ward says no no, she can't and she won't and she is looking for excuses to avoid him and figures the ex is best person to ask.. Andy tells her he's a great guy.. Ward says yeah, but everyone has flaws, Andy agrees and says 'except for Nick.' But you're not with him? Andy says because of her history with Sam..but Nick is funny and loyal and a great catch. Ward continues on that she can't date a cop. Andy snickers.. "That old chestnut - yeahhh I said that too." and holds up 3 fingers -- they smile at each other.
Andy, Juliette, Gail and Nick walking down the hall at the centre. Andy asks if Juliette has done a transfer before Ward says no, she was patrolling in Vancouver the most she did was stop a few B&Es - pretty tame.
A woman meets them and calls out each of their names. She gives them passes instructs them to place their firearms, cellphones and anything that can be used as weapon in the bins before they go in. Nick asks who she is - she responds Justine Ordor, she is the warden. Gail looks at her "Warden Ordor?" "Yeah," she replies "I know, it's unfortunate ."- they do some paperwork and she shows them into the cell block. As they empty their pockets, Ward sets down 2 cell phones in the bin and Andy notices.. hmmmmm...what is that about?
The warden explains that due to budget cuts,they are overcrowded the women aren't getting out as much as they should be Gail tells her, "neither am I if I"m being honest" They don't have enough guards - need a 3 to 4 ratio to let the women out. The warden goes on to explain about the inmates they are transferring - Kenzie Grant is a handful, ferel, impulsive, stabbed a girl in the shower and she's being transferred to maximum. Nick asks about the other, Rochelle Dauber - Warden says she's the opposite of Kenzie. Tells them they will finish the paperwork when the come back thru.
As they enter the cell block, the catcalls and whistles start. "See?" Nick says, "some women like me" Gail who went in first tells him "they're whistling for me,ya idiot" Ward responds "Of course women like you, I'm the only police officer here you haven't slept with." To which he replies with a straight face, "Yet."
They look out into the room full of inmates and tables and then Nick and Gail approach Rochelle- Gail asks if she has any bags, she replies no, can we go now? She wants to leave asap. Ward and McNally go looking for Kenzie, Ward calls out and she responds. Ward asks if she's ready to go, she says no. McNally tells her to get ready. Kenzie looks at Ward,says she recognizes her from Vancouver- Ward tells her she doesn't think they know each other. Kenzie has nothing worth taking from the cell so they work their way to the door. As they're going another inmate sideswipes Kenzie and they start to shove and get in each other's faces- Andy pulls them apart but Kenzie spins around and punches the other inmate and a riot starts. Andy and Ward pull Kenzie away from the melee and see that shes's been stabbed in the stomach. The alarm goes off and Nick and Gail hear it as they're walking out with Rochelle. Nick says he's going to go back and check on McNally, but Rochelle tells him she wants to stay with him.. Gail goes back instead. McNally and Ward finally get Kenzie out of the ruckus and into a room and McNally calls for help.
Shaw and Diaz show up after hearing about the riot. Warden says the inmates are 'a little restless" but she's ordering a full lockdown. Oliver asks what then? |Warden tells him they wait for the inmates to settle down, Diaz asks "What if they don't settle?" She explains a prison riot is like a candle- without oxygen it eventually goes out - if they go in guns blazing that will just add oxygen. she excuses herself and leaves. Oliver tells Diaz they have to wait, they have no jurisdiction
Ward asks McNally if she can see how deep Kenzie's wound is, Andy says no, too much blood. Kenzie asks to be taken to the infirmary - Kenzie tells Ward again she knows her - from 2 yrs ago with the Reapers and a guy named Cuddy . Ward tells her she's mistaken again but Kenzie isn't buying it. Ward changes the subject and tells her they'll get her to the infirmary and they help her up.
Rochelle and Nick - locked outside the cellblock and she tells him she knows a way across to another gate through the basement - he doesn't wanna go but they don't really have any other choice so he agrees, as they head down the stairs she explains there it goes across the entire basement and it comes out right beside the warden's office, they can find a guard to let them out he asks if she's sure where it goes. She says she's done it before He asks if she gets out alone a lot.. she tells him a bit, the guards treat her differently .. he tells her Well, good for you, to which she tells him no need to be snarky. He says, "I'm not, i just figure when you're in prison, you're in prison. She tells him it's all relative as they arrive at a locked gate with noone around. He asks her "well, what now, smartypants?"
Gail steps through the door to the cellblock and it closes behind her. she walks further into the room and sees all the tables and chairs all trashed, but it appears empty - Gail hears yelling out in the hall and as she goes to see what's going on the door locks - she radios for help and Oliver answers tells her if she's safe , stay put. She says ok and turns around.. there is another inmate in the room, and older lady - who looks at her and greets her " Well Hello Blondie, Welcome to my lair. everyone else took off - come in.. I don't bite. Well, I do but I won't, I promise" Gail looks warily at her .
Marlo and Sam are still waiting for the Radiologist. she is getting impatient- if there's something wrong, just tell us already! They talk about minutes and time and junebugs. She is not familiar, so Sam explains what they are, and tells her he used to see them when he spent time with his grandparents at Crystal Beach. and she tells him she used to spend summers there too! they were probably there at the same time way back when. wow. coincidence!
Back in the cell, Gail tells the inmate to get up so she can pat her down and the inmate tells her, go ahead, it's been awhile since she's had a good grope. Gail asks her if it happens often and she replies often enough they are always whining about no dessert, not enough time in the yard - we're in prison! They thought it was gonna be like a princess ball. Gail asks if she knows what started it, the inmate says probably someone robbed someone else's cookie. Gail says well, it won't be forever, but the inmate says it will seem like forever. everybody breathing the same air in and out. Gail radios for someone to come get her. But she is stuck where she is for now.
Oliver checks with McNally, she tells them the inmate is injured and they're taking her to the infirmary -Oliver says no, get out of there now, get to the gate and they'll call an ambulance and hands Diaz his cell. McNally and Ward start moving Kenzie to the gate but Kenzie insists on going to the infirmary - Ward tells her the ambulance will have her to the hospital in 15 min. Kenzie pulls a knife out of the back waistband of her sweats and spins Ward around and slams her against the wall and holds the knife to her throat, tells her they are going to the infirmary. (Again with the no pat-down thing? When will they learn and quit getting caught off-guard?)
Oliver is calling McNally and Kenzie tells her not to answer, she's got the knife to Juliette's throat, but she sneakily turns on her radio so Oliver can hear what's going on. Kenzie tells them they have to get to the infirmary, her best friend JBird is there- she got stabbed and told them that Kenzie did it and she needs to get to Jbird to find out why she lied. Oliver asks the Warden who Jbird is, and the warden explains about the stabbing. Kenzie says she found Jbird bleeding in the shower and the guards showed up and found them together, said Kenzie did it. Kenzie is talking about Donnelly the guard, she says that he lied. At the same time, the Warden tells Oliver Donnelly was a guard to saw it happen, Oliver asks why he isnt here, and why they're not talking to him, warden said he quit 2 weeks ago. (How Conveeeeeeeeenient )
Ward tells her they will get her to the infirmary but she needs to put the knife down, and let her call and let Oliver know, and Kenzie refuses.. she doesn't trust anyone..they all lie! She makes them take off their radios. they both dump them and Kenzie still holding the knife to Ward's throat as they follow Andy out. Oliver tells the Warden now that they've lost contact with McNally and Ward, enough waiting. She calls a negotiator. Oliver calls Traci to find out everything she can about Kenzie so they can maybe let the negotiator know when he gets there.
Diaz checks in with Nick who is still locked in the basement with Rochelle, Diaz updates him on the situation with McNally and Ward - he'll keep them updated. Rochelle hears this and asks they're with Kenzie?
Gail and her inmate are sitting in the cell, Gail says she has to pee, the inmate tells her go ahead, points to the can. Gail decides she'll hold it. Odelle asks her if she's married, ride horses, has any youngsters? Gail tells her she's trying to adopt. Odelle tells her don't do it, youngsters suck the life out of you.. they feed off your hair your bones, your teeth.. (so dramatic) Gail tells her No offence but she might not have been the best parent. Odelle tells her maybe, maybe not, but if she had it to do over she'd try to get a bunch more life lived before the youngsters came. A list of things she shoulda done. Gail asks, like a bucket list? She says, yeah, kinda.. all the things she never got done when the youngsters came, never rode in a hot air balloon, never drank a mai tai, never slept with a black man,or pinched a stranger on the butt just cuz. Gail gives her a look.. Odelle says well ya can't go around giving into your whims when you're a mother. once the youngsters take over you're in second place. if you haven't done all you wanted to before, its game over.
Andy and Juliette are still working their way to the infirmary. Ward asks her to put down the knife they're helping her, and Kenzie tells her no she's been lying since she got there.. so Ward tells her ok she maybe does know her, talked about the bar they used to drink at.. Kenzie says Ward was kind of a bitch and Ward says its cuz Cuddy said not to get close to the clients. Kenzie has had enough and pushes them on. She need to get to Jbird to find out why her best friend says she tried to kill her.
Traci and Oliver on the phone - Traci talked to the public defender, Kenzie's been in and out of jail since she was a teen, Jbird is her only friend at the centre, but the guard, Donnelly, says Kenzie stabbed her and Jbird corroborated. Oliver says Kenzie is adamant that she didnt do it, so they need to talk to the guard. Traci tells him Donnelly is on his way down now to talk to her. The guard who quit had several complaints filed against him for having inappropriate relationship with one of the inmates - and which inmate ? Rochelle Dauber. (Oooh.. bad girl!)
Rochelle and Nick in the basement, she tells him she doesn't belong in jail, she's an Indigo Child. Mostly good things happen to her. More light falls on her than anyone else and he snarks there isn't a lot of light shining on her down there - she tells him as she's backing towards the gate,but look... of the light that is there - the majority is shining on her - she says she's been told that she has a very large energy aura and if she stands against the light you can see it.. He says doesn't really wanna hear about her aura but she tells she thinks he does cuz she forgot to mention that she has a key.. she whips the key card out , the electronic lock buzzes and the gate opens. He tries to catch her but the time he runs the 10 or 12 feet to stop her, the gate slams shut and she's gone.
McNally Ward and Kenzie get to the infirmary where JBird is. Kenzie tries to talk to her asks her who it was in the showers - she needs to tell the truth, so Kenzie doesnt get transferred.. Jbird repeats that it was Kenzie - she looks at Andy and repeats it again. She's clearly afraid, and Kenzie freaks out, tells her they're gonna charge her with attempted murder, she has to tell the truth she's shaking her and JBird is really upset too..she loses consciousness. Kenzie tells Andy she has to do something and grabs Juliette again holding the knife to her throat, and tells her if Jbird dies then Ward dies. Andy tells her she needs Wards help so if she wants Andy to help Jbird, put down the knife. She lets go of Ward and they rush to help Jbird while Kenzie stands there panicking.
Traci has Donnelly in the interview room, asking about the knifing. Donnelly repeats his story that he ran in when he heard the scream saw Kenzie standing there with a knife, she dropped it and ran off. Traci asked why he let her go, he said, they're in prison, where they gonna go? She asked why if they're friends would Kenzie stab Jbird - he figures lover's quarrel. Love is love. Traci asks if he's in love, and he sidesteps the question tells her hes done what he came to do, and asks if he can go. Traci tells him they're nearly done and excuses herself. Outside , she tells Dov she can feel he's lying- she needs Dov to find out more about his relationship with Rochelle, while she checks his records again. She tells Duncan to keep him entertained for a bit. He wonders how he's supposed to do that, and Dov tells him to get him to tell Duncan about himself, share his truths see if he pees sitting down.. (ooh burn!)
Back the centre, Nick asks Diaz for a status and reluctantly admits that he lost his inmate, she had a key - Diaz tells him he's on his way to come get him out. Oliver is tired of doing nothing and wants to go along. Diaz tells him "Sir, Two words." Oliver replies "Eye Patch?" Diaz: "Depth Perception." Oliver sits back down and tells Diaz to be careful.
Dov has more info on Rochelle's record, she had a DUI hit and run, was charged with manslaughter in the accident - charges dropped - another DUI 2 yrs ago and stalking and criminal harrassment charges 2010 - all dropped - she has a history of weaseling her way out of trouble, Traci found several complaints from other guards saying Donnelly was giving Rochelle special treatment and an inmate saw them having sex. They decide to try and trick Donnelly into talking - they double team him and tell him they have been talking to Rochelle whom he has been sleeping with. They tell him she's getting ready to leave the prison and they accuse him of stabbing Jbird. They tell him to call his lawyer, he insists he didn't stab anyone, but may have said he saw something he didn't.. He tells them if she's pointing the finger at him its cuz she's trying to take attention off herself. He admitted that he had been trading favors with Jbird and Rochelle caught them together and totally freaked out - Rochelle stabbed Jbird and threatened to kill Kenzie unless JBird said Kenzie did it, and he went along cuz he had him 'by the balls' He said she's a crazy sociopath and will kill anyone who gets in her way.
Back in the infirmary McNally and Ward are busy working on JBird, doing CPR and getting the pads to her to shock her. Kenzie is anxiously hovering. Rochelle runs in and is surprised to see them all there, and exclaims "oh my gosh" Kenzie spins around and Ward reacts and grabs her, smashes her against a rack of shelves, knocks the knife out of her hand which slides somehow unnoticed, under a cart. Ward, puts Kenzie down to cuff her. Andy continues CPR, and Rochelle stands by the door, locking it and putting her hands up,pretending to be 'caught'. Ward gets back to helping McNally and Kenzie is safely cuffed off to the side. Rochelle gets ahold the knife while everyone is focused on Jbird. She sidles towards the bed, and Ward tells her to get back. There is banging at the door.. the other inmates are trying to get in looking for drugs but the door is locked. They start banging on the glass and it starts to crack.
The Radiologist is explaining that she called Marlo back in because she was concerned about a possible defect in the baby's spine which can lead to development issues. but says she seems fine right now but still wants to see Marlo back to monitor her growth. Marlo latches on to this information.. HER? it's a girl? The radiologist realizes that she made a boo boo but Marlo is happy to know. After the radiologist leaves - Marlo and Sam let the news sink in. She doesn't want to tell anyone and Sam says he won't - except he will tell Andy, Marlo isn't real happy with this.. how is this supposed to work? They're having a baby but he's with Andy.. he tells it's simple, her he will always be there for her and the baby but Andy can't come 3rd. She tells him its a big promise he says he's ok with that.
Once again back in the infirmary, the window is getting more and more damaged, they are still trying to bring Jbird back Ward says they gotta do something before they bust in, and Andy says she thinks they have Jbird back.. Just then, Rochelle ( little beeotch) unlocks the door and lets the others in .. Andy and Juliette go into riot mode, try and keep them back while in the confusion, Rochelle moves towards JBird with her knife to finish what she started. Andy sees her and yells out, just as tactical comes thru the doors - they toss in a flash bang grenade and as Andy is yelling -there is a bright flash of light and Rochelle is slammed against the wall, Andy is knocked to the ground onto her back. Only it looks like she's on the ceiling (wicked cool camera angle shot- Go Greg!!) As Andy rolls onto her stomach and gets to her knees, the camera rolls with her.
and she sees her team come in and hears the muffled yells as they get control of inmates
Oliver checks on Gail - she's sitting on the bed with Odelle, she tells him she's fine - getting parenting tips from a lifer. He tells her it's all under control now, she can come out - she tells him she'll be right out As she's leaving (and happy to go) she stops and asks Odelle why she's there. Odelle tells her she got 20 yrs for 2nd degree murder. She killed her husband but only after her kids died in a fire.. he fell asleep smoking a cigarette while she was at work - when she found out, she killed him. She goes on to tell Gail it's the hardest part about being a mother, you can't protect them - not forever- they become your life and when you lose them it's hard to know how to keep living- Gail is visibly affected by Odelle's revelation and shakily tells her she'll see her later. (*tears*)
Andy and Juliette back in the squad on the way back to the station - Andy is rather upset.. tells her if she's still looking for a reason to avoid dating Nick she's got a reason.. Juliette is a liar - what was all that crap with Kenzie? Juliette tells her she would have said anything to get her to take the knife away. Andy asks about her 2 phones. Ward tells her one is her Vancouver phone, didn't wanna give it up. Andy doesn't buy it. Juliette tells her ok, so she was undercover and did get involved with one of the Reaper dealers but she got herself out of it and she's really ashamed of it, dark time in her life etc etc. please keep it to yourself..Andy is silent - another damned secret???
Dov Ezekiel Epstein - Duncan tells Dov it was good working with him. Dov tells him same... he guesses . Duncan asks him if a girl tells you that she wants to touch your skin with her eyes but she doesn't want you to take your clothes off cuz that's half the fun, does that mean she's into you? Dov tells him yeah, he thinks that means she's very into him. Duncan then asks him if he and Chloe are "Done" done? Dov is a bit confused.. are you talking about.... Duncan sees her over Dov's shoulder, calls out to her..Price! and they High Five. Duncan asks if she's up for some beers, maybe she could spread some of her sunshine on him - Chloe wonders if everyone is going to the Penny, glancing at Dov and Duncan tells her no Dov doesn't wanna come. Dov looks a bit irritated by that. She hides her disappointment, and agrees to go anyhow, and Tells Dov good night. She and Duncan walk out together, while Duncan awkwardly tries to figure out if he can/should put his arm around her and a speechless Dov watches them go.
Gail comes around the corner and runs into Loralee who is a social worker - Gail asks if she's there looking for her, and she replies that there's a guy in cells who went drinking and left his kid alone, she's come to pick up the kid. She asks Gail if she's going to parenting class tomorrow and Gail says yes -Loralee tells her she'll see her there then, and starts to walk away. Gail reaches around and cops a feel of/pinches the other woman's butt.. Loralee stops dead and turns around.. looks at Gail - Gail apologizes profusely and the other woman smiles at her and walks away. Gail is like..huh..ok.. so that happened..
Ward is in the vehicle with the mystery man, Russ. She's telling him about Andy's suspicions and that she almost couldn't explain it away..she did her best but not sure whether or not Andy will continue to snoop around. Russ tells her don't worry he'll cover her tracks.. She tells him she doesn't like lying to these people. He tells her she doesn't have to like it she just has to do it. She is clearly not happy about it at all.
Sam and Andy are together, talking about their day. Having a beer, sitting on the floor,,, soo - caught in a prison riot, new girl gotta knife to her throat.. Oliver and his eye patch. Sam asks Andy what's the new girl about? Andy tells him she's alright. She doesn't elaborate.. Sams' like.. you spent the whole day with her and that's all you got? Not a very good detective are you? Andy changes the subject and asks about the radiologist.. Sam tells her Marlo was a bit freaked out because she thought there might be something wrong - but the baby is fine.. He pauses for a second, takes a deep breath and tells Andy, "It's a girl.." Andy looks at him - "Wow," she says. "That's amazing.. You're gonna have a daughter.. She's gonna adore you. " Sam gives a small smile and replies "She's gonna adore you too." Sam is quiet, and Andy is sad again.."Things are pretty complicated, huh?" He tells her yeah. She is still trying to figure out her place.."Where are things gonna go with us?" He looks at her "Up." he says. She turns to look back at him "How?" He simply says "Hearts." They smile at each other and he puts his arm around her and pulls her close. (*more tears*)

That caught me totally off guard, after she complained about how much her kids sucked the life out of her, and what a big job they are...that she killed her husband cuz the kids died on his watch.. Gah, that was heartbreaking 
and Dov answered with no hesitation at all!
Maybe Duncan will continue to be annoying about his Chloe crush and it will drive Dov crazy!
