Thanks for the thread. This one will be rough to get through as it all sounds bad. Maddie continuing to be awful, S/G fighting, A/L lovefest, more "gay is bad", the Frankie/Deacon mess. UGH!! Not anticipating a lot to like with this one. Hard to believe there are only 4 more episodes left, and I don't even want to watch this one.

God be with us. This one is going to be horrible. I'm not watching until I read some reviews - that is, if anyone else can stomach it.

This one might be a deliberate skip for me. Last week wasn't, but I fast-forwarded through it all when I did watch it, so I think I'm just going to not watch. I'll read reviews and decide if I want to suffer through it.

wow it says something about the writing, the storylines and the episode itself when posters who prefer different aspects of the show all want to skip it. And of course I am also on the skip train for this one. I am all for supporting the show in hopes it gets renewed but I won't give support to episodes like these. In other words if it was between no season 5 or a season 5 filled with episodes like this one storyline wise, I rather no season 5. That said my viewing doesn't matter as I don't live in the US. But my gosh the promo is awful. We are suppose to want to watch ABC promo department. But then again they probably couldn't find anything positive to promote so I give them a pass on this one.

I'm still so angry about last week's show that I get depressed just thinking about it. I used to watch the show live and then watch again several times during the week. The stories and excitement of the plots made me happy. I stopped watching repeats at the beginning of Season 4. I just Could Not Take It! There was no joy, happiness, or peace about the shows, nothing good to be found in them or to make me feel better about everything I have going on in my life. (Season 3 was dreary, but there were moments of hope for my favorite characters in it.)
I know that I will watch this episode live as I always do, but I am dreading it. Even the promo made me sad. None of the characters are getting a satisfying story line. Well, none except Layla and Avery, who hasn't had a clear thought since becoming Layla's band leader. He looked very happy in the promo, and if he can continue to be happy long-term (Well, at least, long-term in Nashvilleland time) and continue to be turned on by that shallow, whimpering bimbo, Layla, I'll be rooting for Juliette to get on with her life without him. |

I didn't watch the last two episodes live, but this one is a total and complete skip for me too.

I can't not watch. I've invested too much in this show that I'm completely in. But watching characters I love go through heartbreak like this is physically painful to see.
But I don't think it's necessarily any more painful to watch than anything we've had before. I remember watching the beginning of season 3 and being so mad at some of the things they were doing, to all of the characters. And I was thinking about how ridiculous some of the storylines were. And yeah, they were. And yeah, they are now too. And it makes me sad that sometimes the writers and creators of the show don't see (or don't care) how frustrated and sad they're making us committed fans, for what they're doing to our favourite characters, and our favourite show. But I'm still invested. And I still love the show, and the characters. And I just can't not watch. Having said all that - I'm going to find this weeks Ep extremely hard to watch. And it'll be painful. And I'm sure I'll need need tissues, and alcohol. But the fact that this show can still make me feel (joy, sadness, anger, anything) at all, means that they're still doing something right - for me. |

The only reason I want to watch live tomorrow is because of Kelsea Ballerini's performance. I love her and have been looking forward to it since they announced she was guest starring.

You know it's bad when even Chip is giving advanced warning (He also retweeted something assuring DR fans that it'll get better)
Not one part of this episode sounds enjoyable. Maddie ripping apart her parents in court. Nope. The Deacon/Frankie fight that will surely fuel Cash and Maddie's narrative that he's scary and violent. Nope. Layla/Avery. Nope. SG not able to get along for more than 5 seconds. Nope. Will's story again being how much it sucks to be gay. Nope. It's as if they're trying to piss off literally every fan they have left __________________

I wish I felt the same way some of y'all do, but truthfully since the beginning of season 4 I've pretty much lost interest in all of the characters. If I wasn't on this board, which I actually enjoy more than the show these days, I probably wouldn't still be watching.

Read some comments on the Nashville Facebook page when they posted the sneak peek of Maddie in court and pretty much every single one was mentioning how stupid this storyline is, how Cash needs to leave, etc. I think about 98.9% of this fandom hates this storyline, and a lot of them have already stopped watching.

I'm definitely still watching. I'd pretty much resigned myself, to the show being cancelled. Now, we're hearing some optimism, for renewal. I guess we'll find out soon, whether that's warranted. Yes, I definitely hope for a renewal. Nashville has a lot of talent in their cast. It also seems obvious, the cast genuinely like and care about each other. In any workplace, that's not a given, and it's special, when it happens. If we get a Season 5, I'm hoping this train can get back on the track! And yes, the Maddie storyline is certainly one of the worst of the entire series. The writers have just taken it so far over the top, it's ridiculous and makes zero sense. I actually feel badly for Lennon. She's a relatively inexperienced, 16 yr old actress, being asked to sell this mess. I'm sure she's doing her best, but, I don't think an Academy award winner, could make this storyline fly! |
