I love how Kimberly Roots totally ignored the Maddie stuff, and then when someone asked her about it in the comments she was like, yes, I'm ignoring Maddie. She's going to be super unhappy during the rest of the season.
On another note, this episode sucked. It was super boring. Luke's issues with his fans/new friends: boring and unrealistic/who cares Avery and Layla: Boring and annoying Deacon and Rayna: Was hoping we'd have some good collaboration, but the stuff with Vita was just boring. Will: Can someone give him a storyline that doesn't revolve around him being gay? For most people, being gay is NOT their defining factor. Scarlett and Gunnar: Nothing much happened, just boring. The episode was ok
Loved Deacon and Rayna being all adorably married. And I've wanted them working together and finding artists for H65 for so long. Loved their scenes at home. That said, the Vita stuff is so pointless. Can't this just be about DR finding talent? Do we need her to be homeless and have a criminal record? I love the Scarlett/Gunnar/Will friendship. Tbh I like SG so so much better as friends and musical partners than I ever did as a couple. Let them stay the Exes. But can't Will just find his way back to performing, hang out with SG without getting gay bashed? But I am glad he went back and performed again. I mean I'm glad Avery has a job and all but Layla. And he really needs to get a story besides being sad about Juliette stuff. But Layla is not the answer, she is not to be trusted. The Maddie/Cash song was really pretty. Don't care about Maddie/Colt though. And don't trust Cash. She's spending waaaay too much time hanging out with a teenager that she just met. Luke is a tool. The last he saw Juliette he was dropping off in rehab. And so he comes and harasses her husband looking for her because his tour needs a boost?! I don't care that his life sucks. I don't care about his old friends. __________________

The episode was ok. There was nothing really special about it. But I didn't expect that it would be a good one.
Will: I liked it and it was for me best, because he was so brave that he was going on stage again. But yeah they could really write him another storyline than just being gay. And the S/G/W friendship was also great. S/G: It was time that Erin went away and now both are in no relationships, so it has the purpose fulfilled, but the scenes weren't so interesting. D/R: I liked it that they work a bit together, but could they just talk about more than work? And Vita isn't really necassary. Besides Frankie starts to really annoy me. Like Deacon said both would have the same problems when they would apply somewhere. Luke: Nothing special about it. Don't care much about him. A/L: It's interesting how their relationship is developing til Juliette comes back. But I still don't like Layla a lot so and we know about her plan, so I don't really take their conversations too seriously. Maddie: I hope for her that it will work with her and Colt. And I liked her conversations with Cash, but it's weird that she's spanding so much time with Maddie. |

I really liked Maddie's song. Might buy it.
Poor Will. I love his friendship with Gunnar and Scarlett. Wish his life didn't suck. The Vita thing was a little boring. I did like seeing a softer side of the actress after seeing her in The Walking Dead a few episodes back. Riff? Couldn't be bothered to care about this. Luke must be some kind of desperate and insensitive to ask if Juliette could come back out on the road with him. He knows where she is and what she was like before she went into rehab/treatment. Good to see Rayna and Deacon happily married. |

Pretty weak episode.
Good things: - Favorite part of the episode were the Maddie/Cash scenes. Lennon was really great in that first scene and I love Jessy Schram. The song was so beautiful. It was the first time since a long while that I actually understood Maddie's feelings and that it made sense (translation: that I didn't think she acted like a mean brat for I don't know what reasons. ) - Loved seeing Deacon/Rayna without drama, being happily married and having every day life scenes. Kitchen scene was my favorite. For the rest, it's just... I know the writing of the show has been lacking subtlety for quite some time now but it felt like almost everything in this episode was so on the nose and/or cliche. Sigh. Quote:

Makes me wonder if some of those other names are also people who work on the show __________________

This episode was really boring. I didn't care AT ALL about Luke and his friend, or his problems, or him in general. Layla annoyed the hell out of me, what a heartless little bitch she is. Their sessions were boring (at least we didn't have to suffer through another song). Maddie and Cash were boring, as was Colt.
Scarlett and Gunnar were okay, but I also didn't like that Will was involved in another Poor Gays storyline. And it's a good thing that I was aware of Will's cut scenes last week, or I would have gone, huh, camping gear, show? Glad to be rid of Erin, she didn't bring anything. The Vita stuff was also pointless. But Deacon and Rayna, perfection as always. |

Huh, I guess I was the only one who actually liked this episode. I wasn't expecting to so maybe that's why. It didn't suck as bad as I was expecting it to and after the over the top drama of last week I found this episode more palatable.
D/R: Loved their scenes together working as a team and seeming to be in sync with each other. Thought they were cute together. S/G: Glad Erin is gone although I did feel a little sorry for her. So Scarlett said last episode that she wants to be in a relationship and now Gunnar says the same thing this episode. Do those two really need a sledgehammer to fall on them?? Take the hint!!! Will: Oh Will. I was so over you last episode and you were only in one scene. This week I am cautiously optimistic about you. Thought you were a total wuss not pressing charges but kudos to you for growing a pair and going back to the club and standing up to the bully. It was nice to see the rest of the audience disliking the guy too. A definite step up. However, am I the only one who thinks that not pressing charges against this guy is going to kick Will in his cute butt later on? I have a bad feeling about that guy. Can we please have this Will stick around? A/L: If I didn't know that Layla had a hidden agenda, I would have actually liked these scenes. Surprised the crap out of me. However, since I do know that Layla has a hidden agenda, the words bitch and wench may have been muttered by me during their scenes. As usual, JJ was totally on point and awesome. Was more than a little peeved by the insensitivity of the shrink. I realize she is Juliette's doctor but still. Missed Emily Luke: I actually like Luke so I felt bad for him. I'm glad they are having him explore his roots and get back to basics. So much better than that whole branding debacle. Nice for him to realize that he has lost touch with who he really is. Thought Riff deciding to go tour with him was sudden. Nowhere during their convo did I get the sense that he really missed performing. I actually thought they emphasized the exact opposite so him deciding to go out on tour seemed weird. Maddie/Cash: Liked these scenes too. They seem to be getting along well and Cash seems to be a good influence on Maddie. I didn't want to smack her this episode at all. Felt bad for poor Daphne in the window though. Tough being on the outside looking in. I also like Maddie giving Colt the speech at the end. He deserved it. Frankie/Deacon: I like these two together. It is nice to see Deacon having someone to talk to. He needs that. And I understood Frankie's reticence to hire Vita. Even though he is no saint he is a business man who needs to protect his business. His cautiousness was realistic. Vita: Did not mind her. If we are forced to have these pointless recurring characters, she wasn't one of the worst. She wasn't annoying and didn't screw with any of our main characters. She can stay...for now. Besides I liked her song and she has a decent voice. Plus we got D/R working together finding new talent for her label which is something we would like to see more of. As well as them singing together again very very soon. |

Looks like the writers are doing the same thing to Luke that they have always done to Juliette and Deacon.....making him pay for all his past indiscretions. When are they going to show the same regard to Layla Grant who has NEVER paid for any of hers? smh Last edited by nashville fan; 03-26-2016 at 06:56 PM Reason: to add a comment |
