Thanks you guys Trying to stay positive. I find out later in the week what my redundancy pay will be, which hopefully won’t be too bad because I’ve been there exactly 10 years, and go through the formal process.

Redundancy pay? Is this equivalent to the US's Unemployment benefits (being paid while looking for another job)?

Aww Fiona hopefully it's a decent amount. Is your store shut down for good or are they just getting rid of positions? You would think countries would be helping more for those businesses and people who have lost jobs. It's crazy how much I feel a blind eye is being turned on those things everywhere.

I had to look up redundancy pay and it is what I thought it would be when you explained it: It's the amount you get when you have been with your company for a certrain amount of time and are let go without it being your fault. Not unemployment support, that's another thing.

Did I understand that correct?

I assume closing for good, though the lease on the property has another year on it so I don’t know what they’ll do about that. He asked if I thought any of the volunteers would like to run it, unpaid and I don’t think any of them will. They’re all happy to be there but none really seem to want overall responsibility. Our other store is staying open but that one is run by volunteers and is like 3 times the size of ours. I think the bosses plan on writing to the volunteers but I’ll probably message them myself too as I know them all really well.

^Aww maybe the people they’re leasing from will be able to help out with that. Especially with everything going on and wave two coming.

Thanks for the explanation. That makes more sense. Here in the US, we refer to that as Severence Pay.

Need some more positive thoughts sent my way.

My mom has decided to quit her job after this last health crisis. Her place as going to make her work 4 days in a row after being in the hospital for a week!!!! Both her and dad sat down and talked it though and agreed it was the right thing to. So, we have gone from a 2 paycheck house down to 1. I don't include myself as I don't contribute to the family expenses. After this school year (May 2021), my dad will be retiring. This whole COVID school year has done him in! He also crunched numbers (he's a math teacher it's what he does; he speaks in numbers ) for this situation and was able to comfortably make that work as well. So, as of June 2021 both my parents will be retired and not working!

Candace, if you're still comfortable besides your parents not working, that's a good thing then. If health can come first, that's awesome

Prayers your way, Candace . How can her job do that? She's out on medical leave, that's a law suit waiting to happen if she were to go to work. I'm glad they were able to agree together and he sees right where she is coming from (I've learned not all men are that understanding so it's nice to see it when I do). Hers (and anyone in general really) health comes first, jobs and money can be replaceable but you are not as a person.

Her work sound so unreasonable Candace. No chance of them reducing her hours more or absolutely not? Sounds like she’s done the right thing in any case.
