The Criminal & The Bodyguard [Red&Dembe|James&Hisham] #6: "You speak Italian?" "There was a girl." "Of course there was."
quotes ღ quotes ღ quotes ღ quotes ღ quotes ღ
X "You know, twenty nine years ago, in Sierra Leone, there was a farmer named Samwel Zuma, who had the audacity to identify several low level Mombasa operatives to local authorities. The cartel massacred the entire family. All but the youngest son; he was sold to a local ring of flesh peddlers. The majority of children in those circumstances don’t last longer than nine months. He survived eight years. He was fourteen when I found him. Too old, too tall, too angry and dangerous to be of any further value. He was left to die, chained to a standpipe in a squalored brothel in Nairobi. Branded, barely alive, so I took him. Made him well, saw to his education. He graduated university with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature. He speaks four languages fluently and can get by on half a dozen more. He is splendid. His name is Dembe. Dembe Zuma."

These two, I can't believe Dembe did it... What if he did it to not end up like Mr. Kaplan? Do you think this possible?

That wouldn't make sense. Okay say that he poisoned and betrayed Red (which he didn't but let's put that aside for now) than he would end up like Kaplan. Being shot or killed by Red so I don't think that could be a reason.

I just think that idea is crazy. If you don't betray a red you are fine. Dembe knows the lengths Red goes to to protect his people. He also has seen people like Emma ask to leave so he knows Red is not unreasonable or horrible. Drmbe knew Kate betrayed Red. He told her she was wrong. I believe he knew what Red had to do and he understood. And I still think his loyalty is to Red. If he did betray Red, it's not because he didn't want to wind up like Ksplan. You wind up like Kaplan by betraying red. Don't betray Red and you don't get killed. Simple. If Dembe betrayed Red then he knows he will wind up like Kaplan.

Yes, Miranda, I think so, too He would end up being shot!
I still don't get why Dembe wouldn't understand why Red did it and that he was safe... I really don't get it but Dembe never understood. That's the only reason why I'm not 100% convinced that it wasn't Dembe in the end. Just 99%. __________________

Totally agree with you Marilyn!
There is a big difference between not understanding somebody's actions and nothing agreeing with them and betraying that person. I know I sounds repetitive but he didn't' do this. __________________

I just saw a tweet to Hisham that asks if he and Kate were having an affair. Rotflmao. I guess we are not the only ones trying to come up with a reason for him to betray Red.

OMG! That is the weirdest thing I have heard so far! Kaplan could be his mother!

What? Dembe's mother? I doubt that
And yes, the affair tweet I saw as well, Marilyn... No chance But it was totally sarcastic by this person and it fit our opinion exactly. What if Kate is Liz's grandmother? She could be Red's mother or Dom's ex-wife. Or maybe she was a babysitter before she became a cleaner? __________________

I meant age wise she could be his mother.
I started thinking that Kaplan maybe could be related to Liz but I don't see her being Red's mother. Isn't she too young for that? __________________
