episode synopsis
While continuing her investigation into the truth about Tom, Liz testifies against drug lord, Hector Lorca. Later another witness is abducted when he is forced to testify against the dangerous drug trafficker. Red’s interest is peaked and he informs the team that the witness may have been taken by "The Stewmaker" a man responsible for hundreds of missing and presumed dead people. Meanwhile, in an unlikely twist of events, Red and Ressler must work together for the first time.

My thoughts:

I really didn't like the unsub in this episode! When he first showed up I wondered what he was up to. Real ugly!

Why does Red know so much about the Stewmaker? I didn't quite get the whole background story he told him in the house. Guess I have to listen to it again.

Where did the scares came from?

I didn't like the fact, that Liz called Red a "monster". He cam and literally saved her life. I think that guy was behond help and I fear that he wouldn't stay long in prison.

Did nobody in the FBI black site notice that Red just stole evidence?

I wonder who is the girl in the picture?

The FBI will see that a picture is missing inside the photo album, won't they?

Again, I'll be taking down notes while I watch this ep so I don't forget:
  • Creepy opening sequence with the Stewmaker.
  • Ressler & Cooper are still investigating Liz.
  • Red to Liz (over the phone): "Haiti, keeping up appearances. I'm a criminal. The minute I stop being one I become quite useless to you."
  • This is actually trouble now that I think of it. Tom saying to Liz: "Lizzie, you're an open book which is one of the things I love about you. Cause I know exactly what you're thinking."
  • LOL. Red calling at Liz' phone and it says Nick's Pizza.
  • I'm enjoying the Red/Ressler quips in this ep. Red said that he won't be responsible for Ressler's life with this Lorca meeting.
  • Red introducing Ressler to Lorca as FBI. Boom. But well played in the end. Red was obviously having so much fun putting Ressler's life on the line.
  • I think Lorca made a good point that this was personal for Red regarding Keen.
  • The Stewmaker's name is Stanley R. Cornish.
  • I loved the scene of Liz profiling The Stewmaker.
  • Red has a better lead looking for The Stewmaker than the FBI.
  • Red's speech about the farmer & his life and him killing The Stewmaker in the end...AAAAAAAAHHHH!
  • Red getting a picture from The Stewmaker's file, who the hell is she?
  • Keen & Ressler in the end!!! This is the ep I started shipping them.
  • Tom booking them for another 3-days vaca and that brochure he gave her has...the Angel Station Hotel.

This was another strong episode for me. The Stewmaker is a viable Blacklister and very creepy. Gross how he kills and makes bodies disappear. I do have a question though: The Stewmaker is only paid (by other criminals in this case Lorca) to make bodies disappear? So he's basically like Mr. Kaplan too?

He is right with this. Still doubt that he will ever stop being a criminal though.

Yes, this has written trouble all over it. Although I hope he just thinks that he can read her that good.

Because he just stole the Evidence from the FBI ;-)

That one had me wondering.

Why is he doing that? Another job? Or does he want to see how she reacts when they are there? By the way do they go there at all? I saw no reference to it later.

I'm going to rewatch this one tonight but I'm excited because it was an early favorite of mine. I hope it's as good as I remember.

I think he was telling him a fable that has a parallel to his life. He said that he doesn't know where The Stewmaker is because he always 'moves'. But I assume since he's on the Blacklist that Red also knows him somehow from his dealings with other criminals. And probably did his research on these criminals before he surrendered to the FBI.

Perhaps another job or to see Liz' reaction. And no, they weren't able to go there because of what happened with Jolene which ruined their marriage.

I really enjoyed this ep. The stewmaker was really wicked and kinda scary  It's hard to imagine how an ordinary family man could end up being a serial body disposer. I also found it interesting that he choose Liz as his first murder victim.

I really liked how concerned Donald was for Liz. And Red was so clever using the dog hair to trick the company into giving him the tracking info on the dog.

Liz was pretty amazing when she managed to get away. Too bad she was paralyzed before she could get very far.

That book of body disposal was amazing. There were definitely hundreds of people in that book.

And I want to know why Red killed him instead of allowing him to be captured by the FBI. I am sure it was for personal reasons and it may have something to do with that picture that he took out of the book.

And Ressler's surprise when he arrived on scene and Red was already there was priceless :)

And of course I loved Ressler taking care of Liz and wrapping her up in the blanket

Hmm, good question. Maybe he wanted some secrets of his to die with him? Like perhaps that photo he took of the girl.

One Thing Remains 06-20-2014 05:47 PM

That's a good possibility  I wonder if they will ever tell us the reason. Red has a reason for everything that he does so I know there's a story behind it for sure.

L i N d $ @ y 06-21-2014 04:00 AM

For sure there will be a reason behind it. It just sucks that we still don't know the answer! :sigh:

One Thing Remains 06-21-2014 03:28 PM

yes it does!! I wonder if we will find out when we learn why Red was so interested in that picture he removed from the stewmaker's photo book.

Answers have to come eventually right? :look:

L i N d $ @ y 06-22-2014 12:43 AM

They have to come soon for our sanity. I don't remember the succeeding eps to address that picture though. Or maybe we just need to continue with this rewatch, there might be a mention? :look:

One Thing Remains 06-22-2014 01:26 PM

If they mentioned it again this season that would be awesome :) Hopefully they did and we forgot about it  If not I really hope they bring it back up in season 2

L i N d $ @ y 06-23-2014 12:42 AM

I wonder what happened to that picture Red took? Do you think that might be his real daughter?

One Thing Remains 06-23-2014 12:42 PM

I think that's a good possibility for sure  Either his daughter or wife. Either that or the pic is tied to Berlin somehow. I hope we find out soon :)
