We'll remind her that our lives our short and miserable and even if we steal a few moments she will have him for eternity anyway.

The sad thing is that I ship them so hard I might not even want to pull a move on him.

I say you have great chances of success with Magnus. If Kurt ever gives him time off work so he can date.

I think Tilda is the person Tom has had the more onscreen chemistry with so far, along with Hemsy.

I'm agree. They are gold on screen.

I finally saw this movie on dvd. So much better than watching *other ways. Anyway, I must have missed it, but what was the significance of wearing gloves? I don't remember it being mentioned. Was it?

If I remember correctly, Jarmush said that the gloves thing was their attempt to add something new to the various vampire traditions/folklore you find in fiction. The gloves are meant to be a sort of protective detail when vampire are outside, away from the safety of their home, which is why, I guess, asking/having another vampire taking them off is a show of intimacy and trust, as we saw with Adam and Eve.

Fiiiiinaly got around to seeing this movie.

I wasn't disappointed.
I understand that it will bore some people and it's not for everyone but I freaking love it!

It's so atmospheric, so mellow and moody, such dry humor, gorgeous music and four of my favorite actors (Tilda's the only one I hadn't seen anything of before so she's sky rocketed up my list of fav actors because of this film)

I wanted to post a link to a review I read. It's a negative review. But what I wanted to ask your opinion on was a strange comment the reviewer made.

Bloodless lust | Denton Record Chronicle | News for Denton County, Texas
--quote--Only Lovers has a few funny bits, but it is not a spoof, satire or comedy. It’s not a romance since the main characters, Adam (Tom Hiddleston) and Eve (Tilda Swinton), live apart and have been married for a century and a half. --end quote--

Why can't it be a romance because the couple start the movie living in different places? Or because they're married?

Does anyone agree with him?
I guess it doesn't follow the formula of most chick flick romances that start with boy meets girl but...

I personally found it insanely romantic, like, the most romantic movie I've seen.

I actually think the fact that they can live apart for periods of time and love each other just as much as they did centuries before is INCREDIBLY romantic, and it's refreshing to see a love story (because if that's not a romance, I am a Martian) where the question doesn't center around whether or not the two are right for or really want each other, but already gives you that as a constant and shows a solid pairing with such opposite personalities and perspectives on life and how those face off in relation to big themes.
And the movie takes jabs at a lot of clichés and tropes concerning vampires in a pretty funny and witty way.

I adore this movie but I get that the slow pacing and the brand of jokes and humor can make it hit or miss for others, but not to see the comedy and the romance in it... wut.

Misty, I find Tilda brilliant, if you want to check out more of her work I doubt you'll be disappointed by her performances.
