Episode 11.16 "Gimme That Ol' Time Religion" Discussion Thread

Gimme That Ol' Time Religion

When Ruthie (Mackenzie Rosman) starts acting suspiciously, Eric (Stephen Collins) and Annie (Catherine Hicks) realize she must be hiding something from them.

Lucy (Beverley Mitchell) finds out about Ruthie's tattoo, but won't say anything to her parents because she's been a hiding a tattoo from them as well.

Nikolas & Lorenzo Brino, George Stults and Haylie Duff also star. Joel J. Feigenbaum directed the episode written by executive producers Chris Olsen and Jeff Olsen.

(Does anyone else think of Matt when you see the title of this episode? He sang those words in the episode after the twins were born, It Happened One Night. It makes me sad, actually. I miss Matt!)

Tonight's episode was quite great. It was classic 7th Heaven: the kids keeping something from the parents and Annie and Eric finding out in the end. And it was so nice to hear about the other kids. I didn't think they all has tattoos! Even Eric and Annie! That was funny (and a bit icky, IMO, but cute I guess.)

I liked that Ruthie went to Sandy. I know that whenever I write fanfic, I always have them go to someone outisde the family, or at least outside the house. That way they have a confidante and can try the information out. That whole thing made sense to me.
But Ruthie wanting to tell Lucy about the tat in her sex class? Bad idea. That would have gone horribly. Might have been quite funny, though, if everyone could have held out and it came to that. I wouldn't have been dissapointed to see that.

No new ep next week, presumably because the Oscars are on. Hopefully it'll be on in two.

Overall, good eppy. I thoroughly enjoyed. One of the best of the season.

It was an OK episode. Not the worst I've ever seen, but certainly not the best. After all these years on the air, I think they're running out of original ideas.

This was pretty original, IMO. They haven't done a tattoo episode in a long while. In fact, last I remeber was Season 1. And having all the kids have them and keeping Annie and Eric knowing from them, that was different. I wouldn't have come up with that.

I don't know. I'm at a different place with this show right now. I accept its flaws and embrace it more when they do something good.

It was kinda obvious that the parents knew. They always know. The whole keeping something from the parents, but they actually do know thing is kinda getting old on the show. Also the whole everyone ratting the person out thing is getting old too.

I did enjoy the episode though. I don't particularly like the show much, but I did enjoy the episode.

Were they being accurate about the kids having tattoos? I know Jess has one on her lower back and that Barry has some, but I didn't think David had one on his arm, at least not the last time I saw him without a shirt on..

Yeah, I see that.

The tats aren't accurate as far as Jesse is concerned. They said hers was on her back, and it's on her hip/stomach region. So that's false. Barry who knows, and i doubt David has an arm tattoo because I have never seen it and it's not like a god thing for an actor to have in an obvious place. I think they just wanted them allto have them in different places, so they matched up kids with body parts.

As much as I loved this episode and thought it was hilarious...I also found it to be a bit predictable when it came to RevCam and Annie having tattoos...but that was kinda cute.Lucy's tatoo was pretty cool it reminded me a little bit of Jane's.I like where Ruthie got her tattoo though if I was her I wouldn't have gotten a guy's name tattooed on my body.Like Kim,I doubt that David has a tattoo because we probably would've seen it.I think Barry has a tattoo I'm not sure what it is or where it is exactly but for some reason I seem to remember him having a tattoo.
