Episode 11.6 "Broke Hearts and Promises" Discussion Thread

Broken Hearts and Promises

After Eric (Stephen Collins) gives the family a big scare and the paramedics are called to the house, Annie (Catherine Hicks) realizes Eric has been hiding the truth from her and she's determined to find out what it is.

Meanwhile, Lucy (Beverley Mitchell) pays a surprise visit to Sandy (Haylie Duff), who appears to be falling in love with her classmate, Daniel (guest star Aaron Staton), while Martin (Tyler Hoechlin) continues to pursue her as well.

Additionally in the episode, series star Beverley Mitchell sings a song, "Have You Ever Loved an Angel," from her upcoming self-titled country CD, Beverley Mitchell. Nikolas & Lorenzo Brino and George Stults also star. The episode was directed by Michael Preece and written by creator and executive producer Brenda Hampton.

What the heck did I post there? Every epiode title imaginable. Hmm. Must edit that out.

Anyway, I liked this episode. (Still can't get over Ruthie being on a "7th Heaven event" next week, but that's next week.)

Lucy wanting to have more kids bored me. Kevin, however, was pretty good in this episode. I like when he acts like a regular guy instead of a Kinkirk-turned-Camden; he's more believable then. Um, Jesus and Mom. Still cracking me up.

Annie's hair looked really good tonight, but during the scene where she was telling the girls (Margaret? Again with the 50s names) that they have a job interview, she has a piece of hair hanging from her collective hair that kept catching the "sunlight" and my eye, so I really wasn't paying much attention.

Um, Martin. Are they doing anything with him or is he just around for kicks? is Sandy going to have some big awakening, say, in a few weeks (or maybe Feb. sweeps) where she realizes she's in love with him. If not, get rid of him. In fact, get rid of that whole plotline. Now that lucy is over it, if they aren't going to continue on with Martin/Sandy they really aren't continuing anything we've been following in the past. But then again, 7H loves to create all these new characters out of nowhere and give them these elaborate storyines that have nothing to do with anything- for an entire season.

But anyway, end of my rant. I liked it, I did. The feel of the show is different this year, and it's just different enough to peak my interest again. Whet my whistle, if you will.

I thought it was decent but something was missing for me.

I'm glad that Ruthie will return (I miss her scenes with Martin and I'm hoping he'll show up at the Camden's).

I hate that Eric is sick.

I'm glad that Annie is back!

Daniel... hot! I say that Sandy should go for it.

Lucy singing... I wasn't feeling that so much.

This season definitely has a different feel for me. I'm not as into it as I have been in the past, which is sad really. Too many new characters and weird story lines.

Lucy singing was weird. I mean, she sounded good, but the audio was horribly overlayed and the song felt forced. It went with the episode, I just doubt that Lucy would have spontaneously started to sing at that moment.

He has an "enlarged heart" and only one year to live, as per Stanley's doctor, not his own cardiologist Dr. Dunne.

This episode should have been titled, "Oops, my ass!" Thank god for Tivo because without it I would not be able to rewind over and over again that watered down disney-style laugh fest coming out of Lucy's mouth in the form of music. My wife and I could not stop laughing about how out of place it was! This season is indeed the shows last, it is just such a terrible story now that next season would only be even more lacking. Thank goodness for Haley Duff or the show would be absent of any talent!

That made me so mad that Annie said that. Until then Mary had been the only when to utter any profanities. Now that's all down the drain. I'm so weird.

Ahh that's horrible. I really don't want a finale surrounding Eric's death.

Well, whether he lives or dies (even though I doubt they'll kill him), that's what we're going to get.
You know, it would be kind of cool if they actually killed him, writing wise. It would prove that the show had some depth. I don't want him to die, but it would be interesting to see pan out for a plot perspective.
