I get a kick out of Darren's facial expression in this photo. Of course, he's at a college themed party with his friends (I think he never let a minute go to waste and probably could be found in class, studying, or just having a good time with his friends.)

I think it was Meredith who said that Darren was the one to be late for classes or come with the blanket

I don't think he was particulary focused on his studies to be honest. I think he worked hard only for the ones he really enjoyed and cared about.
