Ross Poldark returns to England after fighting in the American Revolution. His family and friends thought he was dead. The woman he hoped to marry is now engaged to his cousin. His father is dead, and the property he has inherited has been allowed to deteriorate. It is the late 1700s in Cornwall, England. This is a family drama, but is also about the challenges and conflicts between the rich and the poor. It is a time when fishermen are not catching much fish, tin and copper mines are closing down because prices are too low, but the price of food and rents are high. Ross faces the challenge of making his land productive, caring for the tenants who rely on him, and trying to win back the woman he loved - or finding a reason to live without her.

This hasn't started in NZ yet but I look forward to watching just to see Aidan Turner (who I loved in Being Human) again.

The scenery and music in this show is stunning! And lovely ivons emma!

Of course! :D And I'm so happy to hear this! I was under the impression that they were going to fit the entire series in one season, so I was quite surprised!

That's true! Great minds think alike! :D (I still need to watch the new Outlander ep! I had a busy beginning of the week!)

I haven't read the Poldark series and part of me wants to, but then I don't want to spoil myself too much because I really am loving this series! It's really one of the highlights of my week, especially since The Musketeers is off!

I know everything that happens in Poldark thus, far... it's just the fact of watching them play it out :D
