She was miserable a lot in season 3 but I feel like she had this inner strength and the fact that she was so alone that season when everyone was paired up made me feel for her.
Season 1 is definitely her best season imo and I would have enjoyed Season 5 for her a lot more if she was so pathetic about Lucas in the second half of the season. Think she was in cheesy in some episodes of S4 (especially 4x12), but I didn't think she was as cheesy in S6. S2 was a pretty awful season for her though and I don't get why think it's great for her either.

Season 2 was by far her worst season, she was so awful with the whole Chris thing. I also found her sort of annoying at the start of season 5 when she was taking Lindsey's side for everything and being so judgmental. If Nathan had dated someone else at any point you know she wouldnt have just been able to move on from Nathan.
She was, her depression arc in S7 was probably the only good storyline she had that wasn't linked to Nathan in some way, which I consider an pretty terrible waste of Joy's acting abilities imo. What was your issue with pregnant Haley? Completely agree with what you said about seasons 2 and 5.

I think they could have totally gone that route in season 3 and broken up NH for a while. Personally I would have preferred that.... I think his best seasons were by far seasons 1-3 where we saw his growth. After that he got kind of boring. But I did like his SL in season 5 with his accident and trying to recover/get over that. It gave him some material to work with.
Guess the writers didn't want to take that risk considering Naley's marriage and all. Think most of his growth happened in S1 for me, which is partly why Nathan felt so stagnant as a character post S3. Plus I think they should have had him move onto another career after his accident, especially since the comeback arc wasn't really interesting imo.

Though it was more down to the writing for Lucas going downhill a bit after Season 1 (a lot of which imo can be blamed on going back to BL when it clearly wasn't planned and the writers had to rewrite things to make it work). Never really saw Lucas as arrogant though, lol

In seasons 3/4 though they just turned into someone selfish and whiney and she was so awful to Peyton for no reason. I was so glad in season 5 she had grown up and the later seasons for Brooke were much better (expect season 7 when she was just crying the whole season over Julian lol)
Season 2 was pretty good for Brooke and her arc was easily the best out of the core that season (not saying a lot though, lol). I didn't either and I blame a lot of that on her relationship, which really brought out her unlikeable qualities. Not sure I would call S1 Brooke a good friend lol. She was the highlight of season 5 for me and seeing her finally growing up (and moving on from Lucas) was so great. Loved her in season 6, but I didn't enjoy her as much in S7-9 for different reasons.

Mine were the Core 5, plus Skills, Chris, Karen, Jake and Chris.

For one, I didnt like that she was pregnant at all, that was annoying. She was too young and it was so stupid of Haley to get pregnant when she was supposed to be the smart one. And then they just made her sort of whiney and emotional. Which I understand you are hormonal when you are pregnant but it wasnt fun to watch. Her pregnancy i season 8 was a lot better imo.

I too hated Nathans basketball stuff after season 5 because it kept going in circles.

I dont think Brooke was a bad friend in season 1. She was there for Peyton when she had been drugged. She helped Peyton protect Jenny and lied to Nikki even though they had only just patched their friendship. They had a tight friendship the majority of the season. I didnt blame her at all for being upset over the cheating, that was low. Not to mention she DID forgive Peyton pretty quickly. She found out about their cheating in what, episode 15? And she was already friends with Peyton again by episode 21. The only time I didnt like Brooke in season 1 was when she was being naive and playing dumb about LP's feelings. She knew they liked each other and still pursued him. But at the same time, peyton DID keep saying she wasnt interested and Lucas DID go after her too, so that is not all on Brooke's shoulders.

I think it could have been an been interesting to watch if handled correctly imo. Didn't think she was whiny

Yes it did, plus it was kinda pointless since he ended up retiring after a season anyways.

Brooke also wasn't there for Peyton at all when she was dealing with her mom's anniversary (even Nathan was more concerned about Peyton in that episode, which is a red flag imo) and tried to get NP back together despite how awful Nathan was to Peyton just so she could get her out of the way. Brooke forgiving Peyton for the cheating doesn't make her previous actions any better.

I never said it made her previous actions better, but it was an example of how she was a good friend. IMO someone that is not a good person wouldnt be forgiving at all.

She did do that with Nathan, I forgot about that. But imo thats sort of typical of girls in highschool. When you like this game guy as your friend you might act that way. Not excusing her behavior but I think in season 1 its as more understandable then if she had acted that way later on.

As for the mom thing, idk, there were times Peyton wasnt there for Brooke either so that sort of went both ways.

But overall in S1 her bad friend moments outweigh her good ones imo.

Brooke was there far less than vice versa.

I had my Brucas for a good part of it which made me happy and I love! I can see why season 3 would be consider average too though.

For sure. Brooke was actively trying to push Peyton back into what was essentially an abusive relationship with Nathan so she could get what she wanted...

Good point about that. I loved the s4 scene with Haley and Skills as parents for the project too.

I'm not sure that NP was "abusive". Peyton seemed to hold her own. And Peyton dumped him once it got to be too much, I think we were seeing the very end of their relationship and the worst parts when 101 started. I think Lucas coming back into the picture made Nathans jerk meter go up x10.

Id take season 1 brooke over season 4 brooke any day.

Agree to disagree. Just because someone is a jerk doesnt necessarily mean they are abusive.

And we dont know what Nathan was like before Lucas was in the picture?

We got some hints and I think it was pretty clear from what we got what Nathan was like before Lucas joined the team.

Such as what

We dont know how long Nathan was acting like that. Perhaps Dan was putting more pressure on him this season because he was a junior and getting closer to college, we dont know. The show started when their junior year had already started.
