It really is, and when I rewatched it recently (like in the last year), it still felt so special. When it comes to teen drama and angst, season 1 is pretty much perfect!

I don't like volchuk. him and marissa were the worst, but I liked Ryan/Sadie a lot. and SS and RM i was more neutral on by then. summer/zack marissa/dj and marissa/alex I liked too and ofc my babies Ryan/Lindsay. I do like Ryan/Theresa as well.

Ugh the Oliver SL is the one blemish on season 1. When I did my rewatch it was even more obvious how nuts he was.

^I liked it, it just made Marissa look stupid but overall it was well written.

Agreed. They were all blinded by what Oliver had to offer. Luke was the only one who really believed Ryan.
