According to this write up here, Last Man Standing was just now canceled after six seasons. Because I've been watching the show since day one, I've already written to ABC letting them know how I feel about the news. To me, at least one more season should be done because the last episode that was put out there for us wasn't even close to being a proper send off.

God bless you and everyone of the show always!!!

^^^ Maybe CMT can since they already show the earlier episodes. If they can continue one former ABC show, Nashville that is, they can pick up another. Go here to let ABC know how you feel about the cancellation.

God bless you and everyone who made the show awesome always!!!

P.S. I was at another website reading about this show getting the boot and it was suggested over there that Tim Allen take over for the man who was recently fired from the FBI.

Tim Allen Comedy ‘Last Man Standing’ Canceled By ABC After 6 Seasons | Deadline

Quote:
It was considered the perfect sitcom for the Trump era, hitting ratings highs in its sixth season. But that didn’t save Last Man Standing from a cancellation today.

ABC has opted not to renew the longtime Friday 8 PM anchor for Season 7. The Tim Allen-starring multi-camera sitcom often had gone down to the wire on renewals, with ABC and producing studio 20th Century Fox TV wrangling over the series’ license fee. ABC is supposed to cover the cost of the show at this point in its run, and LMS is on the higher end for a multi-camera sitcom because of the marquee salary Allen commands, but 20th TV had agreed to license fee reductions in the past. This time, there was no bargaining, with ABC simply deciding against another season.

With a central character who is a political conservative and devout Christian adhering to traditional American values, the blue-collar comedy appeals to viewers in the Heartland, a constituency that helped elect Donald Trump as president and has been energized post-election as evidenced by the ratings success of new USA drama Shooter.

That was also a swath of America ABC had been looking to reflect better, mostly on the drama side, as the network’s entertainment president Channing Dungey has noted this season.

In its sixth and final season, Last Man Standing averaged a very respectable for any night and especially Friday, 1.2 Live+same day rating in adults 18-64 and 6.4 million viewers, winning its 8-8:30 PM time slot. While most returning shows were down year-to-year 20-30%, LMS was virtually flat, off just by 5% in total viewers and adults 18-49 (L+SD).

The cancelation is a financial hit to 20th TV, which had sold LMS in syndication where the sitcom has been doing very well, a rare off-network ratings success story these days.
I'm so surprised by this one. Good ratings can't even save a show anymore. I'm just confused what is going on with ABC, and what the heck do they plan on replacing in the Friday slot.

They just can't boycott of ABC and I'm still mad that ABC cancelled some of my good shows, but there is nothing we can do.. And it seems that they change the themes for Friday..

^^^ A boycott can be done on anything. The big question is would those who walk away be enough in order for any kind of difference to be made?

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. Here is a direct link for the petition.

Seems ABC plans to revamp the entire Friday & Sunday lineup. Once is moving to Fridays.

I don't understand why ABC didn't move the popular show to another night rather than cancel it outright.

Tim Allen breaks silence: 'Stunned and blindsided'

Tim Allen breaks silence: 'Stunned and blindsided' by ABC

Tim Allen is breaking his silence on the cancellation of his ABC comedy, Last Man Standing.

The Friday night series was axed after six seasons, along with time period partner Dr. Ken after six seasons, outraging fans and even inspiring a petition to boycott ABC.

Allen reacted on Twitter Tuesday:

So clearly Allen seems to feel this the axing of his show wasn’t entirely fair either.
Earlier Tuesday on a conference call with reporters, ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey defended her decision to cancel the show. “A large part of these jobs are managing failure and we’ve made the tough calls and canceled shows that we’d otherwise love to stay on the air,” Dungey said. “That’s the job. I canceled Last Man Standing for the same business and scheduling reasons that I canceled Dr. Ken, The Real O’Neals, The Catch and American Crime. And Last Man Standing was a challenging one for me because it was a steady performer in the ratings, but once we made the decision not to continue with comedies on Fridays, that was where we landed.”

In EW’s Deathwatch of bubble show renewal odds, we calculated Last Man Standing was slightly likely to continue — it’s modestly rated among adults 18-49, but squeaked into a renewal last year with about the same numbers. At the time we couldn’t know, however, that ABC would adopt an entirely different Friday night strategy next season — running a fantasy drama block that pairs Once Upon a Time at 8 p.m. with a Marvel drama (Inhumans and, in late fall, Agents of SHIELD) at 9 p.m. Plus, Last Man Standing was produced by a non-Disney studio (20th Century Fox) and networks have been heavily favoring in-house productions this year.

Star Tim Allen: ‘Stunned and blindsided’

ABC is breaking its silence on its decision to cancel Last Man Standing — and so is star Tim Allen.

The axing of Allen’s sitcom, which delivered a strong 8 million viewers on Friday nights, has upset fans — particularly conservative viewers who feel the show’s conservative star was singled out. ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey defended her decision to reporters on a conference call Tuesday, noting she also canceled shows with decidedly more progressive politics this year, like producer John Ridley’s acclaimed drama American Crime and columnist Dan Savage’s comedy The Real O’Neals.

Meanwhile Allen took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the matter: “Stunned and blindsided by the network I called home for the last six years,” he wrote.

In the wake of news that Last Man Standing was canceled, fans started an online petition pledging to boycott the Disney-owned network.

“Last Man Standing stands out in the sea of network television sitcoms. It is a show that appeals to a broad swath of Americans who find very few shows that extol the virtues with which they can identify; namely conservative values,” reads the petition, which topped 106,000 signatures as of this writing. “Last Man Standing was not just selling conservative ideals though, as some of the characters in the show are clearly of the liberal persuasion, yet the characters on the show all manage to get along and take care of one another, despite their politically opposed views … Last Man Standing is one of the only shows on broadcast television, and the only sitcom, that is not constantly shoving liberal ideals down the throats of the viewers. And sadly, that is likely the real reason the show has been canceled.”

Earlier this year, during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Allen compared being a Republican in Hollywood to 1930s Germany. He previously told Fox News, “What I find odd in Hollywood is that they didn’t like Trump because he was a bully. But if you had any inkling that you were for Trump, you got bullied for doing that. And it gets a bit hypocritical for me.”

ABC just announced its fall schedule, revealing the Friday 8 p.m. hour that housed Last Man Standing and Dr. Ken will now be taken by the seventh season of Once Upon a Time, which Dungey confirmed will have a full 22 episodes despite downsizing its cast this year.

It doesn't make any sense that they just didn't move the show to a different night. I still like ABC & its owner, Disney, but this was one ridiculous decision that they made that I don't think is forgivable...
