Hell's Kitchen #1

Hell's Kitchen 2 starts June 12 on Fox. I didn't get through many episodes last summer but I might give it another try this year.

Is the competition like Top Chef? I don't think I watched any episodes the first season because the boss seemed really mean and out of control.

I don't really remember. I stopped watching it because the chef was so rude too.

Three guys have names starting with G. That's unusual.

I think Polly deserved to go in the first hour. She had 90 minutes and couldn't get even one appetizer out. Her stiff risotto looked like it was glued to the plate. I thought I was going to like Sara but I don't anymore. I do like Heather. I liked the way she kept telling her team what to do while she was standing there with her hand in a bowl of ice.

I missed the end of the second hour. Who's out from the men?

Overall, I liked it better than I did the episode or two I saw last year but I don't think I'm going to watch this every week. If I'm home and don't have anything better to do, I'll turn it on.

I think I'm going to skip this show. I don't think I like cooking competition shows all that much because I know nothing about fancy food and it's so hard to tell if the dishes are any good by just glancing at them. From the sound of it, I wouldn't like this show as much as I did Top Chef and even that wasn't one of my favourite shows.

I actually kind of enjoyed it!!

I have a feeling a high scale kitchen is probably like that.

Hi! Okay watched the premiere and I think I'm hooked!

This isn't anything like Top Chef, but I think that's good. Top Chef is about something different. I mean, this is about running a kitchen, training and changing and learning to see if they have enough stuff to be executive chef at a new high class restaurant.

At first I didn't like the head honcho chef dude, but it's crazy what a different it made to have him out of the kitchen. He looked like a normal nice guy.

I really have to agree that Polly shoulda gone. I think the only ones I really would root for on the women's team is Heather and possibly Virginia - if she didn't keep screwing up and trying to hide behind excuses. She just needs to suck it up and go for it.

From the guys, I have to say I like Garrett's chances. And as an underdog pick, I think I like Jacquamo - however you wanna spell that ;)

I mean I won't forget that he did have a good dish at the beginning. He can cook, he just doesn't know the ins and outs of a restaurant kitchen - especially a fast paced one.

It's definitely interesting to say the least.

In the end, I think I would love for it to be Heather and Garrett going head to head. I LOVE Heather  She's so great. She's a team player. She's sweet and not at all conniving. She wants to win. You can see that she's putting her heart and soul into the is competition - which is why I think she could and should win.

But man, watching the first 2 hrs, I think the show is going to end pretty quick. I mean, they've wittled the groups down already - losing 2 chefs each!

I am with jayta, there is some sort of weird fun to this show.

Yes, that's one thing that I like. It's more about the way run and work in the kitchen than the actual food (at least for us). I don't like the super fancy food they made on Top Chef and we couldn't tell whether it tasted good anyway.

You guys are evil (and I mean that in the best possible way). I wasn't going to but I downloaded the first 2 episodes and I found I really enjoyed it! I'll be watching from now on.

Just in case you never found out, it was Gabe.

Am I the only one that wants Tom to get stabbed in the eye with a fork?
I cant stand him and I want him gone NOW!!!

Moochie 06-20-2006 09:35 AM

You're definitely not the only one! I really dislike Tom. Actually, I really dislike all of the guys with the possible exception of Garrett. The only thing I didn't like about Garrett was the comment he made about how women should be in the kitchen cooking for their men but other than that, he's more bearable than the other guys.

jennarose 06-20-2006 06:35 PM

I dislike all the guys too, and Sara. Did you see her smiling when Chef was lecturing or yelling or whatever at Heather?

Moochie 06-20-2006 08:33 PM

Yes! I wanted to wipe the smug smile off of her face. I don't want the women to lose anytime soon but if they do, I hope Sara goes.

jennarose 06-21-2006 04:24 PM

I admit, I probably would have been smiling too if someone I didn't like was getting dressed down like that, but I don't like Sara.
