They usually release casting announcements with vague descriptions of the character. If it's a comic book character, then comic readers will know. I don't necessarily read up until after I've seen the latest season.

Also this may be a little spoilerish so I'll tag them.

Like for example, I posted that link and tagged it but I didn't read it. Usually on-set pictures are fine with me as long as they're not too spoilerish as well as casting news. I just don't like being spoiled with SL.
