[3x12] Uprising: Episode Discussion

Uprising
3x12- episode discussion

MALCOLM MAKES AN OFFER TO HELP TEAM ARROW — Still operating without Oliver (Stephen Amell) and desperate to stop Brick (guest star Vinnie Jones), Team Arrow is forced to consider Malcolm’s (John Barrowman) offer to help shut Brick down as Malcolm has a personal score to settle with the felon. Roy (Colton Haynes) and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) point out that the team could use some help to save the innocents of The Glades, but Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) is adamantly against it. They look to Diggle to make the final decision. Meanwhile, the flashbacks chronicle Malcolm’s descent from kind-hearted father and husband to cold-blooded killer after the murder of his wife.
Jesse Warn directed the episode written by Beth Schwartz & Brian Ford Sullivan (#312). Original airdate 2/4/2015.

This episode was good, but some parts were sad. Flashbacks with little Tommy,Ted dying and Felicity leaving the way she did. I loved seeing little Nyssa, though. It's funny that of all people, Quentin got a clue from Cyn.

Is Ted actually dying? I'm a bit disappointed about it, I hope the writers do something with the idea of this character, Laurel needs a mentor and I'm a bit angry because it's not Wildcat! I love to see more vigilantes there and Ted seemed to be the perfect one! I know the actor couldn't be in Arrow for several episodes because he was in another show, but things could have happened better.
I agree about the sad parts. The interactions between Quentin and Sin were pretty interesting - and I don't have to forget to say this, I'm so glad Sin is back! I wanted to see her since the premiere.
What can I say about Laurel and Roy? They're awesome, I'm sorry Oliver, but I do enjoy the protagonism these two had in the missions. I can't be more happy of the fact that TA is calling Roy "Arsenal".
Favorite storyline of a character for this episode? Malcolm's one. The flashbacks and his scenes with Thea, Oliver and TA were pretty interesting. And what if we end the episode with something better: Nyssa calling Malcolm as the magician.
Favorite scene? Arrow's appearance .

I don't know what the writers want to do with Felicity this part of the season, I agree with her in some things but I never got this perspective of her character.

Well,I think she was hoping he'd have some limits. He'll never be Barry, but it wasn't wrong to expect Oliver to have some limits. Siding with the man who caused Tommy's death, killed hundreds and set Thea up is disgusting. I do get how and why it's necessary, but Felicity has every right to walk. He's not the man she always thought he was atm.

I think she'll spend more time with Ray as he becomes The Atom. He has definite limits and moral boundaries. He's also a normal guy who doesn't have issues.

I love e some John Barrowman,so that entire portion of the episode was awesome. I didn't want to like his scenes with Thea, but I did. She'll never forgive him or herself if she finds out the truth. I felt so bad for Roy during their conversation.

I'm so glad that Oliver is letting Laurel fight by his side next week.

Overall it was a pretty good episode, though the ending was kind of weak. The Arrows return was kind of corny, especially with all of TA retreating back to the the Lair and Black Canary hiding. Sucks that this is most likely the last we will see of Wildcat. I just say recast him, but I don't think they want to do that.

But I don't get why they aren't incorporating Laurels boxing moves some more.

I said this in another thread, but I'll say it here too, I still hope that Wildcat's still alive. I didn't know that J.R. Ramirez was on another show; but I think he can still hang around with how the writers write the story. I want him to be alive cause Oliver needs all the help he can get right now

Man oh man, holy hell on wheels! What an insane episode.

This one seriously felt like a season finale of sorts.

The Arsenal/Canary team up continues to be one of my favorites this season. They just work so well.

Gah of all people to tell Lance that something was off, it was Sin?!

Speaking of which, so glad to see Sin back. I really missed her.

And speaking of Lance, it was cool of him to figure out that Roy was Arsenal.

With that in mind- how is it that everyone can seem to figure out Roy but the same people can't figure out Oliver?! That's the only thing on the show that bugs me.

Malcom was all kinds of awesome in this episode! Everything from his flashbacks, to working with Thea, to him wanting to work with Team Arrow as associates, to Oliver going to him for training (which is so gonna be interesting!)

With that thought in mind, Malcom training Oliver, Thea has so got to find out who Oliver is soon if they're gonna be working together like that. Please, please, please!!!

The fight between Brigg's men and the city was insane! I loved every bit of it. And that part where Oliver makes his presence known was great!

And his speech to the city was downright hero-like in every sense of the word! When he used his bow and arrow to shoot his way out, I so wanted that moment in 3D, it was the best moment on this show in forever!!!!!

The Oliver/Felicity stuff doesn't surprise me in the least. Yes he loves her that doesn't seem to be enough for the kind of life he leads.

Overall I am a very happy Arrow fan!

So I'm a bit disappointed with Oliver's recovery. I feel like the show kind of dropped the ball. Oliver was - or at least should have been - DEAD. How exactly did Tatsu heal him from a stab through what appeared to be the lung but they're now suggesting was the stomach. And then the bone crushing fall off a cliff? I will totally suspend reality while watching TV - that's kind of the point. But Oliver's miraculous, unexplainable recovery is pushing it a bit.

Aside from that I really enjoyed the episode. I was so happy to see Sin! I'd missed her. And I'm glad at least someone is clueing Lance into what's going on. His ignorance regarding Sara is getting really old.

I'm also liking Arsenal/Canary working together. I'm enjoying more development for Roy. And had to laugh when Lance told him he knew who he was. Ha!

This. It makes no sense and Oliver being stubborn can only go so far. I need to watch over again since I missed the Roy portion, but he's a dumbass. Malcolm could have easily killed him with those injuries.

Sin is a smart cookie and she'd know Sarah anywhere. I'm wondering if Roy told her that Sarah was dead. Lance will be so,so pissed when he finds out. Yes, it's going to cause a risk to his health, but this is his kid. He deserves the truth and his family lied this entire time. He deserves to mourn his daughter.

I believe that he can't figure out about that because of what happened in season 1 and I have to see that Oliver didn't have a stereotype before so he'd not be recognized with the color green.

I'm still waiting for Thea to know the truth. God, didn't she suspect? He left the city for one month, both Oliver and the Arrow.

Yeah, I'd have kept with the idea of the Lazarus Pit. It is more coherent for Arrow due to the relation between it and Nyssa & Ra's Al Ghul. The Flash shares the same universe to the Arrow so then all the audience can accept more "science fiction". Or whatever.

That is what this family does. Everyone kept Sara being alive from Laurel last season and now everyone is keeping Sara being dead from Quinton this season.

Oliver's recovery has been, really like a resurrection - the N-th time!!!
Really not believable.
Dunno if this is the episode where he comes home... (been watching a marathon now, so dunno what happened in which episode )
but...
I am all kinds of disappointed with Felicity and him. What is she saying now:"I don't want to be the woman you love?"

Maybe she doesn't want to get hurt like the women that he loved?

Vinnie Jones as Brick, btw, he is great, perfect for a bully role, but I did not get it all the way through... How did he manage to stay alive that long? He gets an arrow in his chest, he just pulls it out? Some kind of suit??

He gets a bullet in his head? Nothing?

I'm not sure why the writers do these kind of things. I mean, also Oliver had a sword through his chest and he did survive...
