GUEST STAR SETH GABLE (“FRINGE”)
RETURNS AS THE COUNT

When a young woman meets a violent death after partying at Verdant, Detective Lance (Paul Blackthorne) and his new partner, Detective Hilton (guest star Roger Cross) inform Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Tommy (Colin Donnell) that she was on the drug Vertigo. Oliver immediately pays a visit to the mental institution where The Count (guest star Gabel) is locked up, but finds he is in no condition to deal drugs. However, when The Count escapes and Starling City is flooded with even more Vertigo-related violence, Oliver and Diggle (David Ramsey) make it their mission to track him down. After Detective Lance uncovers incriminating evidence against him, Tommy goes to great lengths to clear his name, and the fallout from his actions leads Tommy down a new, unexpected path. In a flashback to the island, Oliver recalls the lessons he learned from Slade (guest star Manu Bennett) and Shado (guest star Celina Jade).

Katie Cassidy and Emily Bett Rickards also star. Michael Offer directed the episode written by Bryan Q. Miller & Lindsey Allen (#119).

Pretty good ep. I like Tommy, so I like seeing him get some screentime and I really enjoy his relationship with Ollie. Totally awesome how he had the basement set up - but how did he do it without revealing the Hood stuff to anyone. I mean, it's not like he could move all that stuff himself. I'm very sad that he went to Satan at the end of the ep - that won't end well. And I want him to make up with Oliie and not be a bad guy. But he's got a destiny, so I will be disappointed. And Quentin - he got played by Tommy - we really need to see this guy do something impressive so he doesn't come off as a total incompetent.

I also like the Laurel/Quentin dynamic.

It was nice to see Digg doing his own thing a bit - nice to remind the audience he has a life and his whole life isn't just about being Oliver's assistant. Carly didn't look happy when he left though - I hope this isn't the start of "duty keeps him from having love" for Digg since we've already got that for Oliver. Really, though, it hasn't been that long since he killed someone - did so in the second episode before fighting China White, right?

Colin Donnell was really awesome tonight.

Hope Digs resolves his issues with Floyd Lyton soon. Dont want him to go down the revenge path like Helena. His nephew & Carly needs him.

I really enjoyed watching Tommy tonight but was surprised at the end when he asked his Dad for a job. I am glad he didn't blindly forgive Oliver.

I don't have CW so I have to usually wait the next day to see it online.

Loved the episode.

My favorite parts were the flashbacks. I loved that we got to see some Ollie/Shado interraction. I love seeing Slade train him but I gotta say I'm looking more forward to the Ollie/Shado training because Shado was always one of my favorite in the comics.

I was confused.... the Vertigo Drug Lord who was taken from prison by the Dr..... was he sane in that episode or still in a sort of mad-coma state

A better exercise....try to slap the water without splashing it...it's a precision technique

@Dave: no the Count wasn't same. The Doc needed money and so he used the Count for the recipe for Vertigo to make money..

I liked the episode.. I loved that Tommy did the stuff in the basement..

I kinda like Felicity and Diggle working together..

I normally love Tommy but I kind of thought he was just looking for a fight in this episode. He's been on edge with Oliver since he learned the truth, it's understandable but I feel like he (or the writers) was just waiting for even the slightest of hiccups so that he could go to his father. I didn't even get the impression he was going out of desperation or a last resort, I felt he wanted to be there.

Liked the Laurel/Quentin dynamic also. I like Laurel best in her scenes with Quentin or with Thea. I don't really buy her with Tommy that much anymore and I think they're heading for a breakup.

Liked the Felicity/Diggle stuff. I can't decide who I like seeing Felicity with more to be honest. I love the camaraderie with both Diggle and Oliver as she brings out a more comedic side in both but I find myself shipping her with both at different times.

I'm sad Tommy isn't in the club anymore, I hope it doesn't just disappear..

I think people are being too hard on Tommy sometimes. He knew Oliver before, he was friends with the Oliver from before, and now 5 years later he comes back after being believed to be dead, to be a completely different person. Not only Oliver has changed A LOT he also turned into this hero/vigilant. It's A LOT for Tommy to process.

I also think it was a bit much for Tommy to leave.. would love for him to come back

I liked the episode. Not so much as I liked Salvation, but it still was a really good one.
If you look at the start of the ep. Tommy and Oliver al almost same old, same old, joking about making money in a club instead of spending it. I think it was good they added that, so the fall out in the end is even bigger then it was.

I, for certain, really like the fact that Tommy confronted Oliver about the fact that he also has changed and that it was kind of hypocrite of Oliver to think that he was the only one who changed in five years. Nice touch.
It also shows that Tommy doesn't feel save around Oliver anymore. his text ''you put arrows in people who do illegal stuff. Last time I checked, bribing wasn't legal'' really makes that come out.
And, let's not forget. Tommy gets in to trouble because he protected Olivers secret. And what does he get in return (okay, Oliver didn't know, but still), an accusing look from Oliver. So I get why he quits the club.

Nice character developments throughout the episode, I'm really looking forward for 1x20!

I'M so excited for the last four episodes..because I have absolutely no idea what's still coming four the finale..

Tommy's gone to the darkside, this will make an epic plot twist. Dig is finally going for blood, but I'm not too sure if I'm comfortable with him playing "Uncle-Daddy" for Carly and Andy Diggle's son, but eh. I'll get used to it. The kid's pretty cute too, though I always imagined a preteen. Can't wait for the final four.

Liriel 04-24-2013 12:19 PM

Well, Tommy hasn't gone to the dark side yet - he's just turning to the wrong person. But he hasn't done anything at all dark so far.

So, finally a new ep tonight - how long until this thread is "untopped" and the new one is created? Is it usually done in time for live-commenting or done after the ep has aired?

kostilicious 04-24-2013 12:25 PM

I'm about to create the new thread :)
