Good idea combining to start with in a single thread

I got 2 seasons of both Daredevil and The Punisher :goof: 1 season of JJ even if it had Carrie Ann and David Tennant  just wasn't feeling it

Think tried Luke Cage and think may have liked that one but Iron Fist wasn't interested in

I just remember it didn't go well for Netflix cause of that aka why their Marvel shows didn't last too long  assuming

Oh, I forgot about that. I think the character is originally Asian but they casted a White guy in the role. I just remember most hating the show, just like with The Inhumans. I think those are the only two Mavel shows that have been universally hated lol.

That makes sense ^ where have first hand knowledge that comic book fans can get pretty against something if changed from comic verse

Think have heard of that second series but never bothered with it  I remember The Gifted maybe not disliked but have seen fellow posters I know being sad it didn't last (can't remember how far I got) :goof: Think 2nd season but again no idea for sure

Iron Fist has always been white, the problem was he's a bit of a 'white savior' trope - white dude goes to a foreign village, learns to do their own martial arts better than they can, then assumes the mantle of their legendary champion.

The showrunner on Inhumans and the first season of Iron Fist was the same guy. He has a reputation for being the guy studios call when they need a show finished by a deadline and under budget. Naturally, the shows turn out awful.

The Gifted was good. So was Cloak & Dagger which felt a lot like the Netflix shows in tone and subject matter. Cloak & Dagger even traded references with Luke Cage a few times, so it was basically an honorary Netflix Marvel show. With the MCU bringing back Daredevil, the Raimi & Webb Spider-Mans, and possibly the Fox X-Men, I really hope they bring back Cloak & Dagger and The Gifted next.

The Netflix Marvel shows were generally great (except Iron Fist season one lol ). Netflix cancelled them because Disney was launching Disney+, directly competing with them, and the Netflix Marvel shows would've been like free advertising for the Disney+ Marvel shows, on top of the licensing fees Netflix was paying Marvel to let them make those shows.

The cancellations came out of nowhere and had nothing to do with the quality of the shows. Disney eventually shut down the entire Marvel Television division and cancelled all the non-MCU shows like Cloak & Dagger, The Gifted, Runaways, and Helstrom so Marvel Studios could produce all their MCU shows and push Disney+.

Oh oops, I kept hearing at the time the character was Asian but that's not good either. I never knew the person that did Iron Fist and Inhumans is the same person, no wonder LMAO.

Ahh, no wonder.. But I guess that they didn't think of that..

Mori  Thanks for the info -- wasn't aware of that

Butterfly85  I thought the same too  that the character was Asian

miranstarr 04-07-2022 07:57 AM

Yeah, Danny's always been white in the comics, but the fans wanted them to cast an Asian American. He could have the white experience but also the Asian experience as in you're never white enough or Asian enough to please anyone.
