I fear this time it might truly be the end of Loki. His death wasn't connected to any of the stones as Thanos killed him just because he could and probably because Loki failed to bring him the Tesseract the first time. I always knew Thanos was gonna kill Loki, I just didn't expect it to be that early in the movie.

Yeah. Sad but true.

I think writing wise, it makes sense that it happened so early as where would he fit into the story? It raises the stakes so fast, and makes it pretty clear that Thanos is not to be messed with. Loki being the "villain" in multiple marvel movies and being killed so easily by this guy... That's power.

What do the stones have to do with that? Thanos is very powerful, even without the infinity stones. I just don't think he can be tricked like Loki liked to do in general.

He thought he could trick Thanos in another way by switching his alliances, which clearly did not work.

Whenever I'm watching IW I tend to skip that first part because that's just painful.
