he had no idea he was looking at his own death and regime destruction, looking into the eyes of his own demise.
  in CF when she asks, "why don't you kill me now?" it should've triggered something in his self-preservation instinct. she was very pragmatic, reserved, resolute, no wilting flower to his rose of death, but nope his ego couldn't let him see the trees for the forest.__________________
