I've only read a few critics but many have criticized the pacing of the film. (Even when they give an overall positive review.) Slow in spots early and then complaints about a overlong epilogue. Those critics have opined that MJ should have been one great three-hour film. I'll point out that if the film does drag at times, it is because Francis got away from his original plan of making a two hour film and expanded it by 17 minutes. I know why MJ1 was slow but there is no reason for MJ2 to be. If.

That said, I find that a film's slow pacing usually bothers non-book readers of an adaption more than the book fans.

It's war! Of course it will. Plus not lie the first film was a light summer romp. it had kids killing each other. Just because its aimed at teens doesn't mean it'll be any different.

It's a critique I've never had much time for where the book was concerned, is all I'll say, and ultimately (if MJ plays out as I expect) that fidelity to the realities of the narrative and it's themes is whats going to give the whole series the VERY long shelf life I'm predicting.

As Alonso Duralde wrote in his review for The Wrap:
