Possible Board Closure Discussion: Please Read and Respond! (Board closing Mar 15th)
Hi everybody!
So I have been thinking this for a while and I admit I have been putting it off but I think that it may be time to close this board. Our post counts have been declining over the past few months and we have very few regular posters. As all of you know, Fan Forum requires that we average at least 15 posts per day, with lower numbers than that leading to warnings and then possible closure of the board. I would prefer to go out under our own terms rather than be forced to close due to low post counts. Please let me know what you think. I'll be glad to hear any suggestions or advice to renew interest here. Remember that to keep the board going, we need the commitment of a few regular, dedicated posters. As much as we love this board, please don't just post to "save" the board and then disappear again, because we'll be in the same position that we're in now if you do. Thank you, Lindsay |

Well this isn't what I want to read first thing in the morning!
I recently found this place, have enjoyed conversing about DA and other related movies, etc. I'd hate for the DA thread to close before the conclusion of series 6. It's fascinating to see what different commenters take away from DA--this thread gives me the opportunity to see DA from other's viewpoints. Since I just found this place I am all for keeping it open until the curtain closes on DA. It's a vigil; I'll sit here and light my candle. |

Well, it's sad, but there is no denying the fact that there're only very few regular posters left.
It says a lot about the quality of the last seasons I'm afraid. I remember well how many postings there were every morning when I first joined the board in season 3 and how interesting and lively the discussions used to be. And it is not just this board. The interest in the show has declined. People are disappointed with the storylines and no longer interested to talk about them. I used to be a very regular poster here, but what is left to say for me? My favourite character has left at the end of the season and even though I expect him to be back at one point, there's nothing but disappointment to talk about. I have completely lost my interest in the other characters by now. Fellows can do what he wants with them, it won't cause more than a shrug of my shoulders and the excitement to speculate how the show is going to continue is just not there any more. Judging on the responses the threads get here, I'm not the only one who feels that way. So even though it is sad: I agree that it is time to close the board. |

I'm sorry to hear this. I noticed the posts were down from last year. Didn't you have more posts on D.A. during the British schedule?

I'd be sad to see it closed. The only other forum I know has endless repetitive Edith bashing/ sl...-shaming and other things I don't like. Another very good forum with a nice DA subforum, sadly, is no more...
As for posting regularly, my problem is: I don't really find anything left to discuss about last season (I saw it when it aired in the UK). There are hardly any spoilers yet. And I'm not a big actor's shipper, i.e. I don't feel the need to write how beautiful/ handsome etc. actor or actress X is... (I mean, I'm sure they are wonderful people...) What I have to say about DA in general is not very positive these days, and I don't want to rant all the time. So... there is really very little for me to post right now. I'm sure once spoilers leak, I'll be willing to spoil and speculate, but would the posts in the spoiler section even count? |

It's the one thread where I post regularly, too during the hiatus. What else is there to talk about between seasons? |

I'm so sad to see it has come to this for this board Unfortunately I don't really have the motivation to post on this board either. I haven't kept up with DA for the last two seasons I think. (Still going to watch them at some point though) And even if I had I just can't keep up interest in TV show boards for long it seems. I did have some good times on this board when it still was quite new and I'll fondly remember those.
If there won't be enough regular posters to keep the board alive then I guess it had a good run and it's better to close down on your own terms. Anyway. Thanks for modding this place Lindsay and all past mods __________________

I'm still a huge fan of the show, but I generally find it difficult to post a lot on forums like this.
I like commenting on the episodes and replying to other people's comments, but once the season is over, there's not much left to say in this board (especially since the spoilers board is separate). And the hyatus for DA is quite long. Also, it probably doesn't help that some people follow the English schedule and others the American one, because the discussion gets more fragmented. I don't know, I understand that there are fewer users than before and I agree that averaging 15 posts a day, especially now that the show's on hyatus, would be basically impossible. But IMHO it would be a pity to close the board now, since the show is probably ending after S6. |

Several keep referring to a spoilers board, where is that located? (I am fairly new here, I found this board and haven't ventured elsewhere).
And I agree with Claire, the show's short series and it showing at different times for different countries doesn't help! |

Hi, it's under Fan Extras - spoilers! Took me quite a while until I found it, too!

Thanks for all your inputs everyone!
I think the general consensus here is to close the board so I will ask Jerry to close the board this Sunday. You may still talk about the show on the Spoilers board (link posted above by mrs. g). It's hard to maintain traffic here when most of us just stick to 1-2 threads. Some boards here, for example Sherlock, only have 3 episodes per season and yet they can maintain their traffic. It varies per board and since DA's storytelling isn't on par as it was before, we have also lost posters along the way. I feel like we don't need an entire board to talk about the show now and it would be best to talk about it elsewhere like the Spoilers board. I'd like to thank everyone here who has supported the board all these years and have been with us since the board opened 3 years ago. All of you have made it very enjoyable for me to moderate this board and to come here everyday to talk about this wonderful show. I will still be watching S6 but I'm not a fan of spoilers so I'm afraid I won't post on the spoilers thread. So goodbye for now and thanks for all the wonderful discussions we have had here. |
