Marty cunningly proves his business savvy when he meets electric car mogul, Ellis Hightower. In desperate pursuit of a new client, Jeannie orchestrates a chance encounter that appears to go terribly awry. Marty accuses Jeannie of being a dishonest person, prompting her to reveal a difficult truth.

Loved the episode but really hate the bad blood between Marty and Jeannie. I want them to work it out but also afraid it might hurt the dynamic of the show if they are together, I am willing to risk it though. Lol

Secondly, I don't think Jeannie's encounter went wrong at all. I think she and Marty planned it that way. Personally I think Marty manipulated his cellmate and the entire situation to plant the seed of distrust with Hightower and Jeannie in turn did the same thing to ensure the other guy in fact did start thinking about ousting Hightower.
Professionally I think they are on the same page and as good as ever, personally is where it is all jacked up and they are not even in the same library. I hope they can have both and still have a great show.

god i love your comment... they're not even in the same library and i totally agree. (and welcome Anthony, its good to have you here )
agreed that the whole cell mate thing was well staged and co-incided with jeannie's parking lot ploy... so they are still the puppet masters pulling the strings.

i have to say, i am much happier when jeannie and marty are together because this, 'im so sorry... well you're not forgiven vibe' is not floating my boat.
i need jeannie to stop apologising YESTERDAY already - she didnt do anything that he wouldnt have done WORSE - and i need him to stop being a prick for half a second.

i unfortunately have watched ep 3 today and it has frustrated me... so i am not reviewing this episode with the same freshness as i should have... its been a touch tainted by my frustrations with the other ep.

i have to admit that im not so keen on the prison scenes... i think we can mostly agree that the best scenes are when the pod is together and everything else is a bit harder to invest in. Marty may be the lead but when he is a lone wolf i tire of him and his 'cleverness'.

thought the 3 in the car were funny though (just works better with them able to bounce off of each other and banter and be quippy... you can tell that they roll like that in real life) and the parking lot attack was fantastic and super well played by jeannie. it was nice for jeannie to get her team behind her as well (something that is forgotten come ep 3).

i can live without Monica... seriously. although her sociopathic behaviour is played quite magnificently by Dawne... she has that soft drawl of disdain down to an art form.

i wanted to break marty in half with his scorpion story because seriously dude? WTF? you are a ****ing scorpion... YOU.
im glad the truth is out though and they didnt leave that hanging forever.

hands down best scene is sarah and doug asking for Jeannies baby.
"you're so ****ing selfish"
"and you're so ****ing bat**** crazy".

and then it gets progressively less funny from there... not complaining about that mind you, i like the depth... but with marty and jeannie as the heart of the show... it feels a little lacking at the moment. (even in the previous two season, they may have been on the outs but one was pining for the other, so there was still an element of warmth between them... its feeling super cold and hardwork at the moment).

Thanks for the welcome and glad to be here! I have been looking for forum for HoL for a while now. It is one of my favorite shows and between it and the Homeland, are the only reason I still have Showtime. Lol

I agree, Marty needs to stop torturing her. It doesn't make for good TV at all for me. I get that they are flawed and broken characters but it would not make them any less flawed or broken if part of their life was consistently happy and healthy.

And yes the car scene along with the scene where they ask for the baby are priceless!

I am not sure if it was great acting on Don and Kristin's part or just my imagination but when Jeannie told Marty the baby was his there was something in both their expressions that made me think they were going to be fine at some point.

welcome anthony, glad to have you here

for me the only likable parts of marty are roscoe and jeannie and hes on the **** with both atm

You're a dishonest person Jeannie. And I get dishonesty. I mean, I do of course. But yours doesn't seem to have an off switch. Now I may end up drowning but it's not going to be because of you.

???wheres his off switch???
and she was actually truthful about being the one who handed in the info

im happy that at least jeannie is not taking **** from clyde
"whiny little bitches look at you and go 'ew what a whiny little bitch'"

and oh god doug and sarah.. doug thinking it would be better if sarah was dead.. i mean he makes marty and jeannie's relationship seem healthy at times

its awesome that you found us then.
we do group rewatches during the off-season as well, which is fun.

yeah, i agree with that completely... just because you're broken it doesnt mean that you cant at least try and be happy with the person that is your match in that.

i hope you're right regarding Marty and Jeannie being alright... im going to have to rewatch the ending to see there expressions again.

damn straight about roscoe and jeannie.
and i felt really bad for jeannie becasue you could tell her interest in how roscoe was doing was really genuine. she wasnt even trying hard there... she meant it.
that whole 'dishonestly' speech really got my back up... as i said in the other thread. she has been more honest with him then anyone else in her (or his) life. lets not forget that she was the one that exposed herself and made herself vulnerable by telling him the truth about being in love with him. that was brave and honest.... she also said she wouldnt hesitate to throw him under the bus... (guess she settled for prison, , oops).

clyde. totally owned by jeannie (and every other woman in his life) as always.

I know most people are upset with Marty and how he is treating Jeannie and I don't agree with or condone what he is doing, i would prefer he forgive and move on. However, watching him with Jeannie in the last two episodes of season 3 we saw a Marty we have never seen, not to my recollection at least. He went all in (they both did) and right or wrong when he gave himself up like that I am sure it had to hurt like crazy when he landed in jail because of her actions. The Fed lady said something to the affect that she was able to protect Jeannie so what Marty probably felt and heard was that Jeannie made a deal with the Feds and intentionally set him up to take a fall so she could take the company. Not to mention when she told him she was pregnant with another guy's baby, i think that hurt Marty to (but that could be another case of me misreading facial expressions). True, it was not her intent but the world they live in that is all part of the game, so it is not too much of a stretch for Marty to think she did it on purpose. So you put all that together, and I am not sure I can blame him for feeling the way he does, except I know it was not intentional on Jeannie's part, she really thought she was doing the right thing for the company, so i really think he needs to forgive and move on.

Looking back at early in season 3 Jeannie was harsh and fought hard to keep him at a distance. Now she did that because he was a jerk when she said she loved him (hope I am not confusing seasons). It seems like when one is ready to move forward the other is not or in the case of last season Jeannie's actions backfired and landed him in jail. One day they will both be ready at the same time and it should be fun. lol

Just my two cents though.

i agree with a lot of what you're saying... basically all of it.
and your time line is spot on.

it's just that i think i am somewhat tainted becasue i have watched ep 3 and that rubbed me the wrong way a bit. that being said... im frustrated with both of these crazy kids.
jeannie isnt jeannie enough and marty is too marty if that makes any sense.

im hoping that by mid-season or so something happens to sort of pull them back together a bit, even if not as a couple (for now) but for the company etc. (and my sanity) that mutual respect that they have for each other, im ready to see it again.

Haha i agree with you 100%, they are both so frustrating. I am afraid to watch ep 3 now. I might record it and watch it right before ep 4 so I don't have to be mad for a whole week. LOL

Just curious and you can tell me to mind my own business but how do you get to see the episodes ahead of the air date? Are you in the industry or something? Just curious and please tell me to mind my own business if you need to. lol

thats a solid idea. although, maybe now ive made such a thing about it, that expectations are down and everyone will enjoy it. dont get me wrong there is definteiy some stuff in it that is great.

I wish i was in the industry, but no, im not, im actually not even in america so i have to download the eps. showtime release each ep a week early on 'anytime' (via their site) ... im not sure why, but im not complaining... unless i dont like the ep

I love this Sunday's episode of #HouseOfLies so much. I think it shows off all the things our show does well. Fun comedic moments, improv beats, awesome dramatic moments, great guest stars, warmth and family. If you haven't been watching, watch this Sunday at 10pm or watch right now on ShowtimeAnytime. Episode 3- Entropy is Contagious.
