I opened this thread for news about the crew and any actor/character who doesn't have their own thread.

A new show for Michael Seitzman.

Quote:
CBS is on the hunt for a new medical drama.

On the heels of the news that the network is developing a Silicon Valley-set project from Jason Katims, The Hollywood Reporter has learned that CBS has given a put pilot commitment to a hospital drama from Intelligence creator Michael Seitzman.

Partnering with executive producers Marti Noxon and Linda Goldstein Knowlton, Code Black is based on a feature documentary of the same name. And, like director Ryan McGarry's critically lauded film, the series would follow the inner workings of the busiest emergency room in Los Angeles. The project would focus primarily on one young doctor who joins the staff — and finds that the action so unrelenting, patients run the risk of dying because there aren't enough doctors to treat them.

Seitzman will also write the script for the ABC Studios project and also serve as executive producer. In addition to creating last season's one-off spy drama for CBS, he shot the pilot Americana for ABC in 2012.

CBS, which doesn't have a medical drama on its roster, is perking up after a slow start to development season across the Big Four.

Seitzman is repped by WME and Loeb & Loeb.

I didn't think I could put the article in the Intelligence News thread, hence this thread.

I hope the show works out.

Intelligence guest actress Tania Raymonde has a part in Manson Girls.

The accompanying video contains adult material.

Quote:
EXCLUSIVE: As Charles Manson gears up for his behind-bars nuptials to a young follower named Star, a February shoot has been set for long-gestating indie drama Manson Girls. Susanna Lo is directing the film about the female devotees who joined Manson’s flock in the 1960s and helped carry out brutal killings meant to start an apocalyptic race war. Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects) will portray Manson in the film, which TriCoast Worldwide boarded this month at AFM.

Rather than probe the twisted brain of Manson himself, Manson Girls will chronicle how eight young women in his brood came from diverse and even privileged backgrounds to become the most notorious female serial killers of the decade’s Love Generation. The pic will follow the girls’ pre-Manson teen years through their indoctrination into the Family and up to the bloody summer of 1969 when their violent “Helter Skelter” campaign that rocked Los Angeles and the counterculture community.

Cast as some of the real-life Manson followers are Eric Balfour (Skyline) as Bobby Beausoleil, Monica Keena (Freddy vs. Jason) as Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme, Tania Raymonde (Texas Chainsaw 3D) as Leslie Van Houten and Laura Harring (Mulholland Drive) as Alice Rainer. Lo’s also got a cameo earmarked Ron Jeremy, who’ll play the director of The Ramrodder, the softcore film that featured Beausoleil and fellow Manson Family member Catherine Share in small roles. Taryn Manning previously was involved in the project, which has undergone some cast shifts.

Lo spent years researching all things Manson but opted not to approach the cult leader himself. “A lot of it was like the film Rashomon: Five different perspectives from all the different people at the scene,” she told me. “One of the toughest scenarios to find the truth about was the Gary Hinman murder.”

The project has been the subject of curiosity since Lo announced it three years ago at Sundance. She linked up early with John McFee and Guy Allison of the Doobie Brothers, who are producing a soundtrack that also will feature Al Jardine of the Beach Boys, Marty Balin of Jefferson Airplane/Starship, David Crosby and Beth Hart. At Sundance 2011, the two Doobies and Lo’s cast even performed songs like “California Dreamin'” for the Park City crowd. Lo shot a sizzle reel soon after but spent the next few years courting financiers. “We ended up getting a lot of press, but nobody committed to presales,” Lo said. TriCoast stepped up to take worldwide sales rights this month.

The $2 million production will shoot in rebate-friendly Georgia and LA, with some scenes replicating the Haight-Ashbury counterculture scene on location in San Francisco. Lo is producing for her Slo Motion Studios with Jennlik Productions’ Jennifer Niejadlik and Ineke de Vos.

I love Will Yun Lee's performance as Jin Cong in Intelligence. He was a great adversary to Garbiel.

Michael Seitzman's new show.

Quote:
CBS added to its pilot orders Tuesday, picking up Code Black, one of the many medical dramas developed at the broadcast networks this past season, and a comedy from The Late Late Show With James Corden head writer Mike Gibbons.

From Michael Seitzman (Intelligence), Code Black is based on Ryan McGarry’s critically praised feature documentary of the same name and follows the inner-workings of the busiest emergency room at Los Angeles County Hospital, where most of the extraordinary staff members confronts a broken system in order to protect their ideals and the patients who need them the most.
Seitzman will pen the script for the ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios co-production and executive produce alongside Marti Noxon, David Semel, Linda Goldstein-Knowlton and McGarry.

The drama landed at CBS in August with a notable put-pilot commitment and was one of a long roster of medical-themed fare to be developed this past season as the broadcast networks look for fresh takes on the medical genre, similar to the way ABC’s How to Get Away With Murder has put a new twist on the legal hour. Many are looking for more grounded fare and true procedurals over genre buys. CBS also has an untitled Silicon Valley medical drama in the works from Parenthood duo Jason Katims and Sarah Watson vying for a slot on the network’s pilot roster.
Code Black brings CBS’ drama pilot haul to five, off four from a year ago.
Meanwhile, Gibbons comedy The Half of It is a multicamera entry about a newly divorced dad who revels in the fact that he now gets to keep half his stuff, which is more than he ever had when he was married. Gibbons will pen the script for CBS Television Studios and exec produce. It brings CBS’ comedy pilot orders to seven.
