So, this is a little weird. We previously heard that Emily's new love interest was going to be a childhood friend of Jack's who is a former soldier with PTSD, and that he'd make the decision to stay in town after something life-changing happened to Jack.

So has the character been rewritten? Or is this meant to be a totally different character?

So now he's a new friend of Jack's and not an old childhood friend?

I think it's probably the same character they've been talking about but maybe they realised that the whole idea of Emily's new love interest being an old friend of Jack's was a bit messy and they decided to make him a new friend rather than an old one. More disposable I guess.

Seems silly to make him a cop though who Jack gets friendly with. Seems a bit odd after Jack's just being arrested as would have thought he'd be trying to distance himself from them and not make friends with them.

Yeah they probably changed their minds and rewrote him. Same thing happened when everyone was waiting for Conrad's eldest son to join the cast and then he came out as Victoria's.

I remember that. I was waiting for His other child to come and it never happened. Would have made more sense than the Patrick arc.
